“Juice” 1-5 starters return Come on, hoops. Karl Charles was a starter last year and was thrown off the team. I understand that the few remaining fans of HC basketball who have endured the last 9-10 brutal years have to look for every ounce of possible optimism to still feel good about this program, but that is a huge stretch to claim that all starters are returning.

Tough to get excited about a recruit that we beat out American, Lafayette & Colgate.

Jehyve Floyd did not have a bunch of offers, and I think he's fun to watch.

Does anyone else remember that we had repeated posts from one person on CROSSPORTS that at least one of last year's frosh was leaving? He told anyone who questioned him that they just didn't know what was going on. Did we have someone withdraw that has not been announced?

I never like to get boxed into win and loss projections, but I know what I want to see this year. At some point, not sure when but definitely before they get too far into league play, I expect this team to become a "veteran" team. To me, a veteran team for Coach Carmody takes care of the ball, passes it well and hits a decent percentage of 3 pointers. That's what I'll be looking for. I'd like to see better rebounding, but I know by now that is not a top priority.
I suppose I could say they have to at least get to the league finals; and if not, call for changes, but you never know what can happen in a one and done scenario. They could get in an epic 3 overtime struggle against Bucknell, with the Bison pulling it out on a desperation Kimball Mackenzie 3. I just want to "know" that the team is moving up strong and steady. Another indicator I am looking for is for someone to step a big step in his play.
Finally,as I have said before, I have circled the date for the DCU game with URI. The Rams, of course, lost a lot, but as rf1 will probably remind us, they have a great freshmen class coming in, and will be very talented. Still, this is a real opportunity to step up a level and take a game they shouldn't win on paper. The program needs a win like this, and I say the time is now!

Someone may have been afflicted with what is known as Windbag-Itis Syndrome. Many of us get it from time to time.

Dave, with all due respect, this is year four under Carmody, and we have lost more than we've won. 42-56 overall and 22-32 in the PL. I understand that things aren't so black and white (wins and losses) when it comes to progressing a program forward, but Carmody needs to win this year. Plain and simple.

Wish we still had Mitchell Hahn, he could shoot. So can most of the current team...and they wanted to play for Holy Crpss.

SOV, I don't think there is any inconsistency with what you and Dave have both posted. Dave specifically mentions the PL finals, so to get there pretty much means the team has been winning and improving, unless it is 2016 redux.
As for me, I definitely agree with you. This is, or should be, make or break for Coach Carmody. Outside of the 2016 miracle run, the results are not much better than under Milan. And his past successes and reputation only gets you so far . . . . and he's reached that point. Time for his team to succeed. As someone used to say here, you have to wait "until he gets his own players." He does.

So did Mitch . . . . if the College was located in Omaha.

Wish we still had Mitchell Hahn, he could shoot. I was a big Hahn fan and think he would have thrived under Coach Carmody. That being said - and a minor nitpick - Hahn was class of 2018. He wouldn't be around this year

Yeah, only way he would still be playing would have involved him getting a medical redshirt.
