Just for comparison, here are the Massey picks (with the difference from Bassett in brackets): Harvard by 15 (+1) Colgate by 11 (-7) Dartmouth by 28 (+11) Monmouth by 11 (-3) Boston College by 10 (-4) Yale by 11 (+3) Stony Brook by 2 (-2) Lehigh by 14 (+1) Lafayette by 3 (+3) All the same teams are favored, but the predicted margin is different in every case. ...and yes, this is for entertainment only, so there is no need to post how meaningless all of this is yet again. Thank you.

If we don't change things on offense, we won't get 17 points against Harvard.

Sadly, baring a Harvard turnover or two, you may well be right.

I and others have already posted our thoughts on that. Mix up the play calling including a 2 back offense. Change QB and let Degenhardt have a chance. Play Oliver more and possibly Bruno. Throw more to the TE as we started to do vs. UNH.
putter, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of . . . . .

I know the easy, and maybe correct, comeback to what I am about to post is "they had a lot more talent" but back in the 80's, I was not living in the vicinity of Holy Cross and watched one of the last HC-BC games at Fitton Field on TV, before the internet and streaming games existed. Can't tell you the year but I am sure others can fill in the gaps. We got out of the gates fast and were winning, eventually lost the game rather significantly when BC made adjustments in the second half and with a much larger team essentially wore down the Crusaders. Believe Fitton was a quagmire, which didn't seem to help our smaller, quicker team.
What struck me, though, was how the play calling by HC was so mixed and varied and it looked like we passed when BC expected a run and ran when BC expected a pass. They were totally frustrated. I loved it and visions of 1942 were dancing in my head.
It was not to be but it still sticks in my head how I thought our OC was a genius. The loss was to BC not because of the game plan, it was simple Jimmy & Joes over the X's and O's. I think we have enough Jimmy & Joes against most of our opponents as long as we have the X's and O's.

We had tremendous coaching in the 1980s....OC that day was Tom Rossley who was an offensive genius...the coaching staffs since Duffner left have mostly paled in comparison to those Carter/Duffner coached teams en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Rossley

If memory serves, the field got worse and worse as the game progressed so that cuts, misdirections and speed plays that HC could pull off earlier in the game became impossible when the grass turned to mud and then it was brute, straight ahead strength. BC had the better of it as the field deteriorated.

Yeah...Gordie and others have said the field really hurt their chances that day...that was a really good BC team though...went on to beat Georgia in a bowl game in '86

An argument could be made that we had maybe the best assistants evah at an FCS school who went on to coach in the FBS/NFL...I really have no idea but Duffner, Mike Sherman, Kevin Coyle, Tom Rossley etc....forgetting others I'm sure, but it was quite the coaching tree for an FCS school

I bet if we had that same OC this year, we would have only lost to BC by 30!
