When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail!😂

I’m with HCFC45. For those of you who think he’s wrong, let me ask you, how can you possibly be in the right pew if your in the wrong church??

"Third from the rear on the right side" That could be your pew, but not your church.

If YOU’RE in the wrong church, third pew from the rear right side is still not YOUR pew nor the right pew.
If you don’t believe me, let google settle it. Google “right pew wrong church” and see what it returns. 😁

I'm not googling anything. This expression was handed down to me from my Irish mother from her Irish immigrant parents and whatever it means to others, to us it meant "you may be right about a small thing but you missed the big picture." Now . . . . . "put that in your pipe and smoke it!" [Yeah, another one of Mom's]

Favorite expression from Mother--bet yours said it as well: "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions"

Favorite expression from Mother--bet yours said it as well: "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions" How about a grandmother quote: "Happiness shared is happiness multiplied. Sorrow shared is sorrow divided." Sounds to me a lot like what goes on here on Crossports.

Believe the saying is “right pew, wrong church” but we get your point ‘45😂 Been a really busy week and have not had much time for Crossports, so just catching up .... ! Still believe it is "right church, wrong pew" (thanks for your support CHC8485!) just as other expressions are: "right tree, wrong branch", right house, wrong floor", "close but no cigar"! ! Further support here: However, the real question is: have we gotten any clarification for "who will be the 5th closer"? !

With all due respect, I don't believe you have an ounce of Irish blood in you. But I do appreciate your WASPy expressions!! Take, for example, your "right house, wrong floor." After a long Saturday evening of celebrating, it has been known that some people go up to the correct floor and try to get in, only to find out that they are in the wrong house. I assume you have also seen many places with wild and garishly painted houses. Saw them in Italy but also in other places in the U.S., almost always by the sea. The story they tell is that some sailors come back from the pubs and have walked into the wrong house. Presumably, they remember the color of their house better. While you may not "get it," I understand the meaning of the expression that I've used. You know, we could both be right?

Well, I'm sure I could get a DNA expert in California to check my DNA that would say that I am 1/1064 Irish! !

Sorry, that would still not qualify you as a member of the tribe. You know how that goes, right?

Sorry, that would still not qualify you as a member of the tribe. You know how that goes, right? Yes, I do! But it might qualify me as a CRUSADER !
