Have to watch the elections returns. Will watch the game online. Being a news/election junkie (stayed up all night in November 2016), traveling to the game presents a dilemma! Usually the returns don’t come in until after 9, which will be perfect. I’ll be on my 90 mile post game route home listening to the results on XM radio.

Kudos to you, 45, for your being part of our greatest civic right and responsibility - to vote. I would hope that you could stream or listen to the game while you are tending the polls but guessing that might be some kind of electoral violation. Should I scream at a ref or two in your absence?

SH game is carried on the PLN. Good! However, does anyone know why the school has stopped televising other HC home/PL games on the PLN? Why the change from seasons past? It does not seem to be a good way to build fan interest. Very disappointing... Pretty sure the games are still on PLN. Check the Stadium app on your phone, or find it on the PC. The only change seems to be that the link is not included in the new schedule format on the gohc site

Big numbers of absentee ballots in NJ, so the final count here may be a couple of days to be official.

I would hope that you could stream or listen to the game while you are tending the polls but guessing that might be some kind of electoral violation. Should I scream at a ref or two in your absence? Mid terms in my town tomorrow will see a very heavy turnout due to a "new $101M school" on the ballot! The proposed K - 5 school would replace 2 ageing schools. It is a hotly contested issue because of the financing. Residents were told it would mean an average of $1.85 per thousand evaluation over 30 years. That is true but they were not told it would be front loaded during the first 15 years so that higher rates would apply during that time and lower rates for the last 15 years. This would save the town about $7.5M in interest but would adversely affect elderly taxpayers who would pay more up front and may not be around to benefit from the lower payments. We have approximately 10,000 registered voters in 4 precincts. More than 1800 have already voted early (546 alone in my precinct)! We expect a really busy day tomorrow, going non stop from 7:00am to 8:00pm! sader1970: you have my blessings! ! In the meantime,I'll be dealing with people asking :"WHY AM I ON THE INACTIVE VOTER LIST?" !

And, when you ask them if they returned the "census form", (most likely reason why they are inactive is because they did not return the census form) they reply that "i'm sure my husband/wife did"! !

It is a bit of comfort to know that others get the same silly comments that we get here in NJ. One of my favorites (from the last big election) is: "I am a registered Democrat but I want to vote Republican this time. How did I change my registration so that I can?" We get some real winners. In all seriousness, I am just glad that they do vote...regardless for whom that vote is cast.

The best one I ever experienced was a number of years back when a woman was filling out her ballot and kept looking around, then looking at her ballot, then looking around, then looking at her ballot for about 5 to 10 minutes. I approached her and asked if there was a problem. She replied: "Yes there is. I can't find Barney Frank's name on the ballot"! I replied that I'm sorry but Barney Frank does not represent this district! She then made a sigh of relief! I did not ask her but wondered how she would have voted if he were on the ballot! !

In some towns (if not all) dealing with a 2 1/2 override or debt exclusion, that question is on a separate ballot than the official state ballot. People need to make sure they get both

Now it is on the ballot for the entire town to for for or against.

Talking more civics than politics, I believe the rules for passing a debt exclusion and an override are basically the same. In general, it's much easier to get things through town meeting, even by a landslide, than to get 2/3 on the paper ballot.
But the question remains, does your town have a separate ballot for the debt exclusion? That can throw a wrinkle into things. A co-worker voted early in Shrewsbury, MA. The town clerk asked if he wanted the 2nd ballot. If the clerk hadn't asked, my co-worker might not have thought to request the 2nd ballot

In NJ there are items front and back on the paper ballot used by absentee voters. There is a big ad campaign to remind people to "flip the ballot." Some voters need all the help they can get.

It is Question #4 right after the 3 State questions on the back side of the State mid term ballot! !
