From the "If ifs and buts were candy and nuts dept," ...if we took care of biz against Bucknell and held on at Harvard, we'd probably be in or around the Top 40 right now....a lot higher than we have been this late in the season in a long time.

Looking at Colgate's record (8-0), we scored 17 of the 23 total points scored against them this year. That 7 point loss to Colgate is the one I'd really like to have back (although the ridiculous loss to 1-8 Bucknell stings more) for PL Championsip/FCS playoffs/ranking purposes.
If #7 Colgate smashes hapless and #107 Lehigh, they should get the home field game in the FCS playoffs. (I am assuming a loss to FBS West Point in Colgate's odd regular season finale won't cost them much).

It's almost impossible to gauge how good Colgate is right now. They are obviously very solid but I don't believe they've beaten a team with a record ovah .500 this season. As I've posted earlier, their UNH win (10-3) is somewhat marred in that UNH didn't have their QB that day, W&M (23-0) is 3-6 this year, Cornell is nothing special.
I can't remembah a team who hasn't been tested by another very good team this late in a season.

Agreed. I don’t think any of the teams they played this year are now .500 or better. That’ll change when they hit West Point. And then in the playoffs.

Remember when Fordham beat the pl to the scholarship punch and was on top of the fcs world 5 years ago? Now the worst team in the country. Ouchie.

Don't get carried away. There are still a dozen teams rated lower than the Rams. And, if they win this week, they will be moving up. Of course I believe (and hope) they will lose badly so maybe I am getting carried away as well.

During their recent glory years (2013 and 2014 - with their schollies) Fordham certainly smashed its PL/Ivy competition and many of their OOC games...but they never got past the 2nd round of the FCS playoffs (those CAA losses were not particularly close).

Well, taking the PL and having a win in the FCS playoffs are not bad "consolation" prizes. (Spoken as one who grew up only a few blocks from the Rose Hill campus.) PS: Fordham beat SHU in the FCS first round (37-27) in 2013 and then beat them again (44-22) in 2014.

As the schollie team in the PL that title might not be a great consolation prize. Not sure two NEC wins in the playoffs over two years is much consolation either as Fordham was looking to make deep playoff runs given their terrific regular season success. I'd like to see Colgate make a deeper run than that this year (but it'll be very tough).

I do feel much the same way. Those second round losses and a first round loss in 2015 had to be disappointing. I am pulling for Colgate to do well this year. Perhaps they will make another strong FCS run as they have before, but - despite their impressive stats - they are still a bit of an unknown quality because of a relatively weak schedule.

As I predicted a couple years ago, it comes as no surprise to me that Fordham’s day in the sun proved finite. Colgate should enjoy theirs while it lasts as well, because it will also end soon.
