Don't forget to vote first! [My absentee mail ballot was sent in 2 weeks ago as I will not be able to get to the polls Tuesday]

I used an absentee ballot as well so my votes are in. The mail-in ballot was convenient because, while I am working at the polls all day (5:30am to 9:00pm), it is just not at my own location. That would have been far too easy. I hope the game will be available later than evening! I want more than the score. I want to SEE this team play. If anyone gets to the women's exhibition tonight, please post your observations. I know less about the HC women this year than I have in some time.

Email from Coach Carmody
Dear Fan, After a month of practice, we are excited to open our season at home this Tuesday vs. Sacred Heart (tip at 7:05 p.m.). The players have put in a lot of hard work and we are ready to compete. The team is looking to build upon the momentum gained during the last month of the 2017-18 season when we advanced to the semifinals of the Patriot League tournament. We’re hoping to be a top tier team in 2018-19, and our returners understand that we must work hard every day to achieve our championship dreams. We have a number of experienced upperclassmen on the roster - Pat Benzan '19, Jehyve Floyd '19 and Matt Zignorski '19 - who will be vital to the team’s success this winter. Jehyve looks to lead the way after being named third team All-Patriot League and earning Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2017-18. Floyd averaged a team-best 12.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocked shots per contest last season, while making 68.8 percent of his field goal attempts. He led the conference and ranked fourth in the nation in field goal percentage, while standing first in the league and 30th in the country in blocked shots. In addition to our upperclassman, our younger players have impressed in the pre-season. After playing valuable minutes as freshmen, the sophomore class must continue to improve and provide consistent production throughout the season. Click here to view our 2018-19 roster. Once again this season, we want to challenge our guys, and we look forward to playing one of the toughest schedules in mid-major basketball. We play 10 games against teams that advanced to postseason play last year and 15 contests against schools that posted winning records in 2017-18. At home, the non-league slate will include visits from reigning Atlantic-10 regular season champion Rhode Island (at the DCU Center), Canisius, Fairleigh Dickinson, Sacred Heart and Siena. The highlight of the non-league slate will be the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament. As part of the tournament schedule, we will face Michigan and Providence on the road in addition to two games at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. If you are unable to make it to the Luth Athletic Complex this year, I invite you to watch each of our home games live on the Patriot League Network. Click here to view our 2018-19 schedule.
It is a privilege to represent Holy Cross and to continue to build upon the great legacy of our basketball program. While we have great plans in place, please know that I will be relying on constant feedback from the Crossports Message Board posters to ensure that we stay on the right track. I hope to see you at a game this season. Thank you for your support. Bill Carmody Head Coach
