Thought I would summarize the trend that we had hoped to have broken . . . . early game stumbles.
Colgate - down 24-0 (halftime score 'gate 24 HC 0) - final result: 24-17 loss BC - down 48-0 (halftime score BC 34 HC 0) - final result: 62-14 loss Yale - down 21-0 (halftime score Yale 28 HC 14) - final result 31-18 OT win Dartmouth - down 34-0 (halftime score Dartmouth 20 HC 0) - final result: 34-14 loss Bucknell - UP 7-0 (halftime score HC 7 Bucknell 6) - final result: 19-16 loss UNH - down 28-0 (halftime score UNH 14 HC 0) - final result: 28-0 loss Harvard - down 9-0 (halftime score Harvard 28 HC 0) - final result: 33-31 loss as time expired Lehigh - UP 56-0 (halftime score HC 28 Lehigh 0) - final result: 56-0 win Lafayette - down 14-0 (halftime score HC 17 Lafayette 14) - final result: 40-14 win
So, in 7 of our 9 games, we gave up the first points. On average in those 7 games, the opposition scored 25 points before we got a point. Talk about digging yourself a hole. Hopefully we've seen the last of this for the season. We've had 3 halftime leads and won 2 of those 3. No one can rationally explain Bucknell!
