This was inevitable the longer no resolution was reached between the parties. Both Ollie and Calhoun appear to have had NCAA infractions occur under them while running the UConn program. Many argue they were far worse under Calhoun. Calhoun however was never fired for cause but Ollie was. One easily noticeable difference is one of them was white (not fired) and one was black (fired).
I myself think that race was not the reason Kevin Ollie was fired. I however also do not think he was really fired for possible infractions. In my opinion, he was solely fired for performance issues as he didn't win enough games (Calhoun did). UConn however did not want to pay the rest of his contract as would ordinarily be the case for performance firing. The school only used the trumped up cause reasoning for firing to cheat Ollie and avoid paying him what he would rightfully be due. The use of firing for cause has however put the school in a corner where they have opened themselves up to charges of treating employees differently.

After reading this analysis, I feel good that there was no apparent effort to not honor Coach Gilmore's contract. I hope if there was any need for contract flexibility when CTG took his position at Wake Forest that HC graciously provided it.
The performance of the team could be frustrating, but I don't recall any scandals or NCAA violations during his tenure.

The same could be said about the three basketball coaches (Raynor, Kearney, Brown) who the College dismissed. At least, I think so.
