I got a note from athletics about Saturday's game saying you need a women's ticket to get into the first half of the double header. Anyone with men only season ticket can fill out an on-line form and get a free ticket at will call, but they will need a ticket.
My plan had been to stroll into the women's game around half time. I took advantage of the free thing rather than get there at 1:30 and not be admitted. I have no clue what time they will accept a men's ticket for admission. It seems like a strange set-up to me so I thought others might be taken by surprise as well. Consider yourselves informed
------------------------
As an editorial note, I think the double headers help women's attendance - at least for a half. If there going to charge a separate admission, they will lose those gains. On another note, I have been to many basketball doubleheaders over the years - I have never seen anything like this

Tom, while it was good to post this, be sure to warn potential attendees to the ladies basketball game that parking will be a bit difficult because of the ladies hockey game. (Go to the LAC webcam atop Figge to watch the fun!). Here's Anthony Moore's note Tom referenced:

With no one on campus right now, I'll eat my hat if there is a shortage of parking for all 3 games going on tomorrow. Would that it were so. Secondly, with the lack of fans at games, why in the wide, wide world of sports would you clear the gym between games. If you have a ticket to either game, you should be able to go to both. I know there could be an issue with a duplication of seats for the two games but it seems to me that could be worked out in some fashion.

That sounds like a great deal but even for someone as purple as I am, that's an awful lot of Crusader athletics.

Should be one ticket for the day of hoop.

Insert the Holy Cross ticketing operation for New Jersey Transit:
"The gym will not be cleared in between games as long as you have a ticket for each game."
What the hell does that even mean? They are going to go person-by-person and kick people out if they don't have a ticket for the men's game? Just pure incompetence.

One ticket for both games. This is not complicated.

Tragically stupid idea. I get that, in theory, you could have two people competing for the same seat if you allowed a ticket to either game to work for both games. But, come on already. Is that an actual problem or a theoretical one only? If you feel it necessary, make the rule that the person with a ticket for the game happening should sit in their own seat. The people with a ticket for the other game should treat the other game as a general admission ticket and sit wherever general admission is these days.

Agree, one ticket for a doubleheader, but they may be concerned about accurately assigning the visitor's cut of ticket sales to each of the two opponents - if ticket revenue is split between home and visiting schools in the PL - which is why doubleheaders against M&W teams from the same school make things more efficient.
Now, for my marketing idea. Women's Hockey is playing Maine on Saturday. Maine has M&W Hockey and M&W BB. During the OOC season, Maine and HC could team up for a "Quadheader" where the four games are all Maine Vs HC on the same day or same weekend. The cold Maine fans could have a warm water port (on the Blackstone River) for the weekend and Maine's skilled development professionals could host receptions for their fans in the Bud Ryan room between and during games. If it works out, perhaps Maine could reciprocate with a Quadheader weekend in trendy Portland to make an attractive trip for HC fans in the late fall before it gets too cold up they-ah.

This whole thing sounds like a spinoff of the day night, separate admission doubleheader thing. In this case it is a day day separate admission. How about printing one set of general admission tix for the doubleheader, no seat assigned. If you show up early, you get the best choice of seats for the afternoon.

I think the people responsible for this extraordinary fiasco should be identified, hunted down, subjected to public humiliation, and then imprisoned for a period of at least five years with no opportunity for parole.

I think they should be forced to drive to Hamilton, NY to watch a Colgate-Loyola doubleheader.

I believe you read that in Dante's Inferno. The worst version is when it turns into Groundhog's Day in Hamilton while you are there.

I was surprised when I got the email from the athletic office. The new person in charge of tickets is the biggest jerk on campus. We have never seen a situation with tickets that they have for this double header.

I call this history repeating itself.
As we have recounted many times here, the Hart Center was sold out numerous times in the 70s; as a result, the College got pretty efficient at setting up overflow lots on the lower campus, having shuttle buses ready and waiting, and so on.
Then, of course, attendance did a nose dive and all that know-how seemed to vanish with the fans; the reason I say that is when PC came up here 2 or 3 times in the late 80s/early 90s, it was complete chaos. Remember a game I had tickets for; forgot to tell my friends we should leave early; and a normal arrival on campus got us in the place at about the 10 minute mark.
Now, it seems that HC has forgotten how it used to do things when there were frequent women/men twin bills !

Let me, again, be the contrarian voice here. I have dealt with Anthony numerous times over the past couple of years and have found him to be polite and very responsive. And, as bonus, getting a free ticket to the ladies' game, as a men's season ticket holder, means a lot to me. I always liked "free" things but once retired, I love free things. I would likely not have gone to the women's game but may well catch all or at least part of it. Now, if they would just open up the "under construction" parking lot, that'd be perfect. The thought of ushers inside the Hart Center going around the gym in between games and asking to see ticket stubs to decide whether or not they should remove a fan from the gym is truly something else.

With the problems with concessions, crazy start times and now this it only reinforces Father Brooks assertion that we are not in the entertainment business.

I sincerely hope this is going to be on the honor system - especially when I catch a few minutes of girl's hockey during the approx 45 minutes between hoops games

Maybe they will break out the white arm bands from 40 years ago that said USHER. Either that or they clear the gym after game one and only admit those with men’s tix to game two. That could be a ploy to boost hot dog sales.
