Massey makes HC a 4 point favorite (69-65) with a 62% chance for the win.
Army lost their last two games to Lehigh and Colgate. Before that the Cadets had 4 straight wins, including a 19 point win over Holy Cross.

As I do this for teams in our second match-up, it is interesting how little the season stats and line-ups have changed from the first game.

In the first game between the teams, Holy Cross EFG was 48%. The Crusaders are 2-6 on the season (0-4 in PL) when EFG is under 50%, and Army is 5-1 (2-0) when holding opponents under 50%.
At West Point, Holy Cross OR was just 15% - Crusaders are 0-7 (0-4) when OR is 15% or less.

Holy Cross has made 50.9% of its twos this year - the program record for FG% is held by the 1977-78 team (51.9%). Holy Cross EFG is 53.1% - the program record is held by the 1987-88 team (53.9%), which also holds the record for 3FG% (46.8%).
Defensively, Holy Cross opponents have made 53.2% of their twos - in the three-point shot era, only the 2016-17 team has allowed a higher percentage (54.9%)

The season long numbers are great but they have been trending downward. We've hit the 50% mark on twos only once in the last 5 games and our composite 2 point percentage for that span is 70-161= .435. For a full season that would be in the bottom 15 of 353 D-1 schools. We've been decent on threes (40-106= .377) on threes in those five games, making our effective fg pctg= .487 for the five games. That would leave us at about #250 for a full season, As it is, with the 53.1% that WG notes we are at #86 season to date.

When I see us take threes to start the game (typically Grandison, Green or, less often, Butler) and miss, we often seem to have a hard time getting the offense in gear. If we hit the first one or two, it is off to the races. I hope HC starts hot on Wednesday (and for the rest of the way).

Interesting to note that JG's stats have fallen off considerably in league play. Numbers have dropped from 16-5.4-4 in OOC play to 12-4-2.4 in league play. Also of note in OOC games 44% of his shots were three's in PL play a whopping 60% are from three point land. JF's assist to turnover ratio in OOC play was 2.5:1, in league play down to 1.3:1. Blocks are down from 3 in OOC play to 1.5 in league play. Who would've even thought it was possible that JF wouldn't lead PL in blocks but as of today he is significantly behind Lafayette's Lukas who is at 2.3 blocks per game.

Easy to understand because he is not near the basket on defense and when a teammate gets beat he rarely steps over to make a play. In league play he is barely a factor anymore on defense

GAME DAY!!!!
Worcester area could be in line for a bit of ice tonight...about a 1/4" inch overnight..timing is dicey...so is the temperature...a degree or 2 up or down will make a big difference, ice or rain....
Be safe out there on the roads..

We need a win tonight--this is an important game in my opinion. Having lost seven of nine games and sitting in ninth place in the PL, some would say the season has already been lost.
