Interesting quote from Dwayne Wade this morning: ""That is as good as it gets in our game with any team ever to play this game," Wade told reporters. "That is as good as it gets with a starting five. That is why they are who they are, that is why they are champions."
With all 5 starters being current or former all-stars, Durant, Curry, Thompson, Green and Cousins, it is difficult to think of a better starting 5 in NBA history. What do you think? I know it is silly to compare teams from different generations; but, it would be interesting to see what others think.

I'm biased but my favorite was Bird, Parish, McHale, DJ and Ainge. Their Laker counterparts during that era were pretty good too.

Jordan, Pippen, Harper, Rodman, and who was it Longley or Kukoc at the 5? That's a solid lineup too... but the current Warrior's starting 5 is like a Super Nintendo fantasy lineup.

The Celtics starting five of the early sixties had to be really good with many Hall of Famers.
Also wondering who would win if the 1947 HC team played the 1954 HC team?

There have to be some seasons in the 60's when the Celtics started 5 future Hall of Famers. I know the whole era argument, but number of Hall of Famers is one objective measure Not an NBA starting 5, but how about Johnson, Jordan, Bird, Barkley, and Ewing?

72-73 Champion Knicks Reed, Frazier, Debusschere, Bradley, Monroe As much as it pains me to say, If the Warriors win the championship this year with those 5, they will be the best ever.

No doubt, but he's in the NBA Hall of Fame as well There is a college hoops Hall of Fame, but I believe that the Naismith Hall of Fame in Springfield.Mass is for all levels, pro, college, hs, women’s, international i think there is no Hall just for the NBA here is his Springfield write up www.hoophall.com/hall-of-famers/bill-bradley/

I will endorse the best starting five as Cousy, Kaftan, Heinsohn, Palazzi and Foley with Perry, Jr. as sixth man. However I would like to nominate Jack "the shot" Foley for best all time nickname among HC cagers. In the 1990s, when long time Worcester School Committee Member Jack Foley (no relation) was first running for office, the Telegram would routinely refer to him as Jack (not "The Shot") Foley. And that was in political articles, not the Sports Section. That's how memorable (and accurate) the nickname was.

Jack the Shot had a unique release that I have never seen anyone else try His elbows were locked upright as he had the highest possible release point. The shot was powered only by his very strong wrists, and legs of course. That release combined with his great jumping ability allowed his shot to rarely be successfully contested. “Feed the Weed”
