Another heartbreaking loss last night at the Hart! That makes 5 PL losses by 5 points or less!  ! Kudos to Worcester Gray for going 4 out of 5 and pulling even with hc6774! Fifteen (15) posters went 2 out of 5!  ! This is a tough 3 game stretch with the Bison and Terriers coming in on Saturday and Monday respectively! NB: Next week we have Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday scheduled games which will be posted late Friday or early Saturday morning!

Bucknell-- easily handled HC in game one
Army-- Beat Navy by 11 in NY in first game this year. Navy took 12 more shots but the team's shooting is so bad that Army still prevailed. There appears to be no home court advantage in this series.
Colgate-- Colgatwew won the first game in Hamilton by just 4 points. Still, Colgate has won 3 in a row including at Lehigh. American lost to Loyola at home in latest.
Lehigh-- Lehigh won the first game by 16 at Lehigh. Lehigh is 16-0 against teams ranked 165 or lower and Boston U is #238
Lafayette--- Laf has won 3 PL games in a row for the first time since 2015. Laf won the first game, in PA, by 15 points. It will be bombs away from three point land versus the team with the worst three point defense (i.e. opponents 3 point percentage) in the conference. Here's today's tidbit: in 6 career games against Lafayette, Andrew Kostecka has scored points as follows: 8, 8, 4, 5, 4, 8 . He has yet to hit double figures and has shot 9-25 on twos and 3-12 on threes. He is 10-10 from the line. It'd be great to see what kind of defense Lafayette has used, or who is guarding him man-to-man. Lafayette 's strategy may be to deny Kostecka the ball (he has taken 13.6 FGA/40 minutes in other career games versus 6.8 FGA/40 in 6 games versus Lafayette) and his field goal percentage has been dismal. The teams have split the 6 games. I thought this was interesting, particularly in light of Kostecka going for 29 & 26 in his two games versus HC this year. He has 101 points in 6 games vs HC career-wise.

It is easier to compile stats by grouping those who participate in every round first, then those who missed a round second,etc. Ranking by total number of correct picks would only boost Dimarz and you to 18 and 19 respectively from 21 and 22. Ranking by percentages of correct picks would boost Dimarz and you quite a bit but not within the top 10. Thanks to former assistant coaches Kevin Robinson, Kevin Driscoll and Fromer AD Nate Pine who each year donated Holy Cross gear, prizes were able to be given out to those who ranked highest while participating in every round. Prizes were also given to anybody who may have missed a round but had a percentage of correct picks comparable to the top percentage leaders. In the end, this is all about having some fun during a long winter/basketball season! ! |
