"The Jerome" is an annual competition that invites you to pick the winners of the 32 NCAA Conference tournaments. I believe a number of us have participated in the past and perhaps some new players will sign on as well. We can let The Jerome keep track of our scores and report back here for our own sub-competition. It's a great time of year for college basketball fans. See the link at the bottom of this note. The object of The Jerome: To select the winners of the 32 NCAA Division I conference tournaments HOW it works You’re allowed to pick one team per league, and you earn points based on how far it advances [in the conference tournament] A trip to the finals earns two points for your The Jerome score, and a victory in the championship game gets you three more (for a grand total of, wait for it, five). There are two bonus points available if your conference tourney-winning team meets BOTH of the following criteria: it is seeded third or worse in that tournament’s bracket (or second or worse in a league that uses divisions as seeding) it plays no more than two games in the tournament on its home court. So in some leagues, picking a winner means seven points for you www.thejerome.org/I just checked--last year I finished 188th out of 1,135 competitors---respectable

Are there any prizes for the top finishers? Do you get to have coffee in a car with Jerome Seinfeld for winning? 😜

Looking on the bright side, you can't lose anything like if you made your picks at a sports book.

Is there some way to find out how you are doing? I filled out and submitted both forms but I do not see my name among the results. When I use the "find" option, it says no match found. Any help is appreciated.

Well, I was in 43rd place at one point but faded badly to 182nd of 1,278. I think one of our posters finished in the top 60

I "moved up" to about 318. I am OK with that.

Indeed! [If I had gone with Colgate instead of emotional favorite HC, it might have been a bit higher.] (...and thank you.)

FEBRUARY 27, 2020
I just received an email for this year's "The Jerome" competition and I pass it along in case anyone is interested in entering this year. See the original email from last year for some more details on how the competition works
This year's email:
Hey Everybody,
Or “Hello, Friends.” Or, “THIS IS MARCH!” Or, whatever your preferred season’s greeting for this most wonderful time of the year.
One more time – our 20th annual (except the year we skipped) to be precise – The Jerome is back. We’ve got the web site rolling (thejerome.org) and the Twitter accounts (more on these later) humming. We only need you to put pride and reputation on the line and choose the winners of 32 conference tournaments over the next couple of weeks.
Veterans, head straight to make your picks through this link. Rookies, get a quick Jerome primer by clicking here. Deadline for the first set of picks is Tuesday March 3, 6PM eastern; second set deadline is Monday March 9, 6PM eastern (entry form to be released at a later date).
Some quirks for 2020: In hopes of avoiding operator error by, well, me, we’ve listed every team in every league this year. That means you could pick a team that isn’t eligible or didn’t qualify. Don’t do that. Two timing changes – the Mountain West moved up into the first batch of tourneys, and the Metro Atlantic Athletic slides to the second set. The America East’s regular season won’t be complete until a few hours the pick for that league is due. It’s a glitch in the system, but if it bugs you, we’ll re-share last year’s prescient advice: keep calm and pick Vermont. The Sun Belt has stretched its tournament’s five rounds over nine days. We’re keeping it in the second batch, even though the bracket will be down to eight teams by then. As in past years, we thrive on participation. The more, the merrier, even if you’re indicted or show-caused. Our Original 3 has multiplied to nearly 1300 friends of The Jerome in the mix last year. If you have pals who want in, share the links. A follow on Twitter (@thejeromexix and @senditinterns) and an eye on our hashtag (#TheJerome) are good resources, too.
As in past years, I am final judge and jury for any conflicts. I will try to be quick at the monitor. Enjoy The Jerome, everyone!
-The Keeper
