Didn’t Nate set this up before he left? Next year it’s Augusta National

A major upgrade from the humble Springdale GC in Princeton. Go Cross!

$1500 is a pretty hefty fee. The basketball "society" has run a tournament in Worcester the last few years. Usually in the fall. This past fall they were told not to run it because the school was going to set something up in the greater NYC area and didn't want overlap. I am assuming this is what they meant (although September to July is sufficiently spaced not to have much overlap). The basketball tourney was about $200 and you could skip golf and have the dinner for much less money. This tournament is definitely looking for a deeper pocketed demographic

I get that it's Baltusrol, but anyone spending $1,500 to support the disaster that is the HC athletic department right now should have their head examined.

Also, there's no "Young Alumni" option that comes at a more affordable rate? Good luck finding alums who have graduated after 2010 shelling out $1,500 for golf and dinner.

So this is strictly a money raising venture not a community builder. The AD may have decided that he'd rather have 24 Wall Street alums pay the $1,500 each that have 75 pay $200 a pop.

I'd say there's no "Older-Middle-Class-Alumni-Who-Just-Finished-Putting-Two-Kids-Thru-College" option that comes at a more affordable rate either. If it's an important enough priority for you (and it's not for me), you find a way to pay it. That said, it's clearly an event intended for lead donor types, not the average donor.

I'm going to hold off for a year and do next year's tourney at Augusta. That being said, I'll need to come up with a fake name. Anyone who has seen me with a golf club knows that no respectable course would let me anywhere near it

I suggest you register as Mr. Al Czervik. You will be granted VIP admission with all the extending rights and privileges.
If you register as Mr. Havercamp, make sure you have a good caddy.
