So much for competition. At least we know he doesn't mind coming to New England for his college experience.

Carmody's system is geared for bigs who can pass/dribble/shoot, who can trigger the offense as "point-posts" from the top and make three-pointers. That reduces the number of fish in the pond considerably.
As SoV and others have observed, Jehyve Floyd wouldn't have been on Carmody's radar coming out of high school. The coach - but especially the player - get credit for adapting game to system as well as Jehyve was able to.
Actually nowadays there should be MORE of those guys and less of the Floyd and Pat Whearty only-good-in-the-low-post guys. Not that I would take our two former players in a heartbeat. agree with the point, but whearty really shouldn’t be lumped in with floyd since he was a far better shooter. whearty actually had a pretty nice stroke and shot around 70% for his career from the free throw line. larry bird like numbers relative to floyd.

This past year two teams I follow finished in first place and last place. The (football) Patriots took the road less traveled and it made all the difference. They used a throwback power running game with a fullback against defenses that are no longer built to defend against it. The (basketball) Crusaders had a throwback power player in JF, but PL teams had no problem defending them. Hope for next year, however, springs eternal.

I'll check with my UMass buddy tomorrow on the first tee.... Thomas was 2nd team all Detroit....see the link in the Lowder thread..(https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/high-school/2019/04/10/detroit-news-all-area-boys-basketball-teams/3423937002/) Thomas decommited when UMass signed another very good big. He felt his playing time would be drastically impacted by the new signee...Thomas is a good defender, limited offensively but seems to have a good upside..Didn't know anything about his academic . That other kid is a big time recruit for them. Talk about being recruited over......in the same class!

The same happened to Brandon Wade at Duquesne—with TWO freshman point guards

Would it be illegal to reach out to Wades Dad? Probably would.....So forget it! I'm betting that Coach Wade is thinking several moves ahead of any of us on the board

That other kid is a big time recruit for them. Talk about being recruited over......in the same class! Back in the day, I had a kid who was being recruited by BU, Pitino was there at the time. My kid was a 6'8" forward, Rick P told him he was the only big he was recruiting....My kid didn't go there, and BU ended up with 2 kids bigger than mine.....Not all the recruiters are honest with the kids....if you can believe it......lol
