The Bravehearts finished first in attendance yet again. The Futures league model is really working in Worcester.

I know there is a ton of difference between the baseball and football, but I believe that if we do our part the locals would return to Fitton.

I agree with sota (and pp I suppose)....it (increased local/regional attendance at Fitton) can be achieved, but it's going to take a lot of work, patience, creativity etc. etc.
It all starts with winning of course but I think there is a market out there if HC is creative in its marketing, timing of the games, atmosphere at the games etc. College football (particularly to non-alums, family and friends) is a tough sell in Massachusetts. Friday nights are the enclave of HS football and Sundays are all about the Pats (and the rest of the NFL). We are going to have to be very creative in creating a setting where either Dad X from West Boylston will take his kids or Joey and the boyz will load up the jeep and head to Fitton. Aside from a winning/exciting program, the timing of the games has to change somewhat (mostly late Saturday afternoon/nights), the atmosphere inside and out of Fitton has to be more fan-friendly (jumbotron, less invasive/restrictive policing etc). Basically I think our goal should be to create an alternative to going to the Patriots or even BC/UMass games.
I think if these and many other things are done and/or worked on, you could staht to see more games at Fitton in the 12-15K range.

.....and need LIGHTS. The street festival is a fabulous idea. No reason we couldn't do it for fball. Why haven't we? You must build it for them to come. In the beginning we might have to pay the street vendors, but with increasing attendance, they will start paying us. There are so many things that have NOT been done to enhance fball at Fitton. It makes me wonder whether there is a secret plan about the future of Fitton that is being kept super secret. Don't tell me the problem is money. If TPTB really want to do it, they will borrow the money to invest in the project without waiting forever for a benefactor to step forward. I have to think there's plenty of money among alums who played fball. The new indoor practice facility could not have soaked it all up.

Getting them to part with it is the challenge. There has been a lot of progress on that front the last couple of years but historically, not much financial support from that segment of the alum population. hc87 is right and I believe under the new President/AD regime, we are headed in the right direction. But . . . . patience.

it helps they sell beer and wine as well. The quality of this league is atrocious...but Worcester is doing well at the gate. The other teams in the league aren't and are folding. Should be interesting to see where the league goes

In order to get higher attendance at Fitton you will need: 1. Later start times, 1:00 games don't work anymore. Youth sports used to have Saturday games at 10:00 a.m. and travel wasn't an issue. Times have changed. Move start times to 4:00 or 6:00. 2. With later start times you will need lights. Rent them if you have to. 3. Lighten up on the tailgating rules. People feel like they are kicked out within 5 minutes after the game. Alllow a post tailgate for 1 and 1/2 hours after the game to enjoy a couple refreshments, allow the traffic to lighten, and let the kids throw the football around.

IMHO, the TPTB's neglect of Fitton fball stadium is a mystery. And I've heard all the "theories" from posters here. Why should we have to speculate. Why can't the Athletic Establishment at HC just be open about their thinking?

Actually it was Plymouth that is in trouble in the NECBL...got to believe the Futures League isn't really safe with Torrington, Seacoast, and Wachusett drawing less than 400 fans a game. plymouth.wickedlocal.com/sports/20160811/plymouth-pilgrims-swing-and-miss

eick11- Officially, upgrading the fball stadium area is a low priority. I'm questioning that low priority.

Low priority or extremely expensive given reality of ADA? And for a facility used 5/6 days a year.

Why is Fitton being discussed in a thread about summer collegiate baseball attendance?
