Hope you're right and the other 350 D-1 coaches are wrong which is the same hope we had last year. Verbal commits is far from an accurate source

HC doesn't have too many of these "vast physical tools including a good frame and strong athleticism" especially w/Floyd gone.

Hartford and Quinnipiac watched him a few weeks ago, but neither tendered an offer.

Note also that he has gone from 6-5 to 6-6 to 6-7 in various links. Maybe he's still growing or will respond to the elongator when he gets on campus.
Seemed to handle the ball very well for a big guy in his highlight reel

The best reason for hope is that he didn’t start playing until he was 14.

The internet is also far from accurate unless you have other sources His own twitter account shows one D1 offer (HC), plus D2 offers from King, Salem, Saint Michael's, and Northern New Mexico. It would be very unusual for a kid to publicize his D2 offers and not list D1 offers.

It would be very unusual for a kid to publicize his D2 offers and not list D1 offers. But you're forgetting that the kid himself is also not an accurate source. Duke, UNC, and Kentucky were all also trying to offer him but the post office lost those letters so he wasn't able to post to his Twitter.

I think we are being a bit too negative. My guess is some of our top players all time didn't receive many D1 offers because they were deemed too slow or too short to play in the paint. Sandy could turn out to be a late bloomer and become a star. We have experienced the other end of the recruiting spectrum over the years with 2 highly sought high school All Americans back in the 60's and 70's who came to HC and didn't live up to the hype. Recruiting can be a strange business. I say we wait at least a year before we make any judgments on our incoming class of student-athletes. Two might be more appropriate.

Can't speak for everyone, but my issues have far more to do with the position the kid plays. Unless there is a plan for the NCAA to change the rules of the game into a jump shooting contest where rebounds don't matter and field goals in the paint are only only worth 0.5 points, the last thing we need is another wing.

Good points. I still take issue that it is the very end of the 2019 recruiting cycle, and we clearly missed out on other options and this signing looks to be all that was left. Harsh, but true.
