I stole this from a tweet on one of our recruiting threads I haven't been in the locker room since a tour of the new Luth in the fall of 2017. Still I don't recall seeing this wall. Pretty cool even if a little deceiving. Many of these names are guys that were drafted but never played in the NBA

I think FAD Pine had this in mind when there was the discussion about numbers/banners over the court

Bit of a stretch to include Stacom. I think Hochstein's name should be in the rafters. Check out his ppg and RPGs. Also only one name in the last 35 years tells you a lot.

RPjr. had a tough luck knee injury and it was reported that Red Auerbach was reluctant to sign a local hero (Catholic Memorial, Holy Cross) who would occupy the last seat on the bench, and have to deal with the public outcry for him to play.
Former Patriots coach Raymond Berry seemed to have an annoyance with Doug Flutie during Doug's initial run with the Pats, also. That could have been Doug's height, his status as a replacement player, etc. but it also might have been annoying to deal with public pressure to play a local hero.

Perry also had the tough luck to get drafted by the team coming off of the best record in the league and adding Kevin McHale and Robert Parrish to the mix The Flutie thing with the Patriots had something to do with the fact that even though starter Tony Eason was a much better statistical QB, when Eason played the Pats lost, but when Flutie played they won. These things happen when one of the all time great offensive linemen claims they don't make a dress big enough for your QB

Very un-pc today, but one of the great quips in New England sports history.

Another story had Bill Fitch making the tryout very hard for Ronnie alone, constantly picking on him, then making him the last cut.

Maybe it was Fitch who didn't want to deal with pressure to play the local guy. It probably was because Red dealt quite well with local favorites Cousy, Palazzi and Heinsohn before trading Togo. Fitch was a sourpuss who was enabled because Larry Bird loved him.

As Purple Reign so clearly points Red took some time, after not drafting him, to appreciate Cooz’s many talents.

The lack of names in the last 35 years really is as a result of the decision to limit the draft to two rounds in 1989. From Wikipedia "NBA draft" In the early years of the draft, teams would select players until they ran out of prospects. The 1960 and 1968 drafts went 21 rounds. By 1974, it had stabilized to 10 rounds (except 1977, when the rounds were eight), which held up until 1985, when the draft was shortened to seven rounds. By agreement with the National Basketball Players Association, the drafts from 1989 onward have been limited to two rounds, which gives undrafted players the chance to try out for any team.[2]

Has Torey T had the longest pro career? Torey has played 12 years. Just off the top of my head, Cousy played 14 years. Although most people ignore that 14th year when he only played a handful of games after being retired

This wall is great. Football and hockey should do the same.

Did Rob Feaster play for many years, including a long stretch in Australia? According to wiki, he played all but one season in many pro leagues, here and abroad from 1996-2007

how do they decide which team to place next to the name? Its not based on being drafted by them, as clearly Malcolm wasnt drafted by anyone. McCaffrey tried out for the Celts and Suns (though i think he was drafted by the latter). I'm guessing as the draft was longer in the "old" days, most of the of the other names were drafted by the team logos next to them
