Quinnipiac leading 8-7 in the 9th against Campbell. A win would mean they are just one win away from advancing to the Regionals.

Quinnipiac moved up from D-2 and passed us in hockey and now baseball. Somebody has done a good job down there.

Heartache for the Q as Campbell scored 2 in the ninth to win it 9-8 - right now Q is playing host East Carolina again, who they upset on Friday

Tell me exactly how "they passed us" in baseball? Oops, I didn't consult any stats before making my comment so I just googled "Quinnipiac Baseball" now to gets some ammo to respond. The first story is: "Quinnipiac, Central Connecticut gain first ever NCAA baseball bids." So you are right they haven't passed us in baseball. I guess I'm just impressed with Quinnipiac due to hockey and the fact I never heard about them when I was at Holy Cross and for years afterward as a New England Sports fan. It shows a college Athletic program can move forward. Plus, years ago when you turned on the news you heard about the Gallup and the Harris polls. Now it's the Quinnipiac and Marist polls. That's pretty good marketing for both of those previously fairly unknown schools.

There is one big difference with comparing the Q this year and HC in '17 - Q won their first round game at national seeded no..10 ECU, and came within a hair of going to a championship game in 9-8 walk-off loss to Campbell. Other significant games would be CCSU eliminating Cal, and UConn playing very well in Stillwater and are one game away from a Super Regional if they can beat Ok. State again tonight.

Because winning Game 1 against the host team and #10 overall seed is the exact same thing as winning a loser's bracket game against a 2-seed. 1 PLC in 12 years. The epitome of average.

They are in the NCAA tournament this year, while HC is not? So if HC makes it next year and say UConn doesn't, HC has surpassed UConn? That's idiotic.

Whoa, they beat the #10 ranked team, and HC beat #25th ranked team 2 years ago. Well that settles it. QU has obviously surpassed HC. Judging a baseball team on one win or loss is foolish.

Agreed. I am judging HC on the past 12 years, in which the program has only won the 6-team PL once. I said that was average, but SOV was probably more correct in classifying it as below average.

Darin Erstad resigned after 8 years as Nebraska’s coach - I guess when you lose to 3 N.E. Schools in the ncaa’s (Yale and HC in ‘17 and UConn In ‘19) it’s time to go (I don’t think they made the tourney in ‘18.

Michigan pulled off a 'UMBC' type of upset this weekend - After being one of the last at-large picks for the tourney, they proceeded to win the Corvallis regional, and followed that up beating the no.1 team in the country, UCLA in the 3 game super regional series in LA. Vandy (no.2 seed) is now the favorite heading to the College World Series in Omaha this coming weekend. I recommend watching college baseball at the highest level, very entertaining.

Well, with pitching in short supply playing the third game in 3 days, UNC's pitching has absolutely imploded in the top of the first in the deciding game in Chapel Hill for a trip to Omaha. Unseeded Auburn just scored 13 runs, with UNC (seeded 14th) coming up in their half of the first - now that is crazy !

Well tonight might be the culmination of one of the unlikeliest runs through the ncaa tourney. Unranked (and not among the 16 seeds in the tourney) Michigan beat (no.2 ranked) Vanderbilt in game one of the best of three series last night 7-4. Mich won the tourney the year after we did in '53 and again in '62. Not sure if there's been a 'northern' school to win it all since then. With warmer weather over the last two months the Wolverines have played like a legit champion if they win tonight or tmro. I hope they pull it off.

Oregon State won it in 2018, along with 2006 and 2007. Can't imagine the pacific northwest has great baseball weather. Fresno State winning in 2008 was probably more unlikely. They were 37-27 (14-10) entering the NCAA Tournament that year. They won the WAC, and were the #4 seed in the Super Regional. Michigan earned an at-large this year and were a #3 seed.

Good for college baseball to have Michigan, a crappy weather school (although have plenty of advantages being in Big 10) hasn't been to finals in a long time.
