I didn't do this too often this summer, but summer is drawing to a close so I thought I'd throw this out there
The Richard Maloney award is given every year to the player that shows spirit and loyalty as a contributor to the program.
1) Normally given to a senior - name the only 2 juniors to win the award
2) Four times there have been joint winners. Name the four pairs of joint winners

Not fully awake. Should have waited until the afternoon. Anyway, thanks for doing this. unless LeSann has a breakout senior season, the non senior list will be expanded next year.

If the Maloney(wonderful man) has been established a few years before its inaugural in ‘81, There would have likely been some additions to Tom’s question. Perry jr definitely would have won it as a junior in ‘79. (And as a senior in ‘79)The only one possibly stopping him earlier would be Chris Potter. ‘77 and ‘78 would have been a challenge. Potter could have won it both years or he and Vicens could have shared it in either or both years. Bill Doran also could have won in ‘77

Tough not to give it to Chris his senior year. He led in most meaningful stats except scoring in which he was second to Ronnie. Plus Ronnie got hurt at the end of that ‘78 season.

Actually Ronnie got hurt at the end of 77, the NCAA year. Potter got a bad ankle sprain at the end of 78 versus King's College, a late addition to the schedule after the Notre Dame game got cancelled due to the Blizzard of 78. He missed one or two games and only played sparingly in the BC finale (came in the last 2-3 minutes and sparked a comeback). I doubt he was 100% in the ECACs vs Providence either.
Now, here's something I was wondering about: Potter ended up an educator, didn't he, at least for a while? Did anyone else from that era end up in that field? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head.

AB is winning it this year. Perhaps - but it is very rare that it doesn't go to a senior with only 2 junior winners in 39 years. And (without totally giving away trivia answers) one was a special circumstance.

I can't believe nobody has guessed Jehyve. There were no seniors to receive the award two years ago.

I'll go with Rob Feaster. Got it. Rob Feaster won as junior and a senior and only two time winner. Obviously a special player. Still worth pointing out that for his junior year, John Young was a senior, 3 year starter, and member of that NCAA team Still looking for 3 pairs of joint winners to go with Thomas and Simmons

IMHO Potter had basketball in its proper perspective. He was a student first(obviously a fine student) and an athlete second. And, yes, he was also a terrific b-ball player at HC. I strongly suspect that he is a fine man - one who we can be proud to call a fellow alum of Holy Cross. You suspect correctly.

Thank you. I understand about Spilchik. It frustrates me, too. I did not write rags, either. But, please elucidate what did you "dislike" about my complimentary post on Potter? I respect your opinion, so quite possibly I may have missed something. Thank you. Cordially, mm Sorry. I "liked" it very much...my fingers got away from me! If I send out things on my iPad (I try not to) it is too small for me at times, and I do not check my self nearly often enough.
