The PL standings are striking when you see them in a traditional standings chart. The league is a bagel against eight losses. We must be late bloomers.

Jewell becomes a starter after not being on the two-deep last week. Roberts goes from starter to backup at that spot.

Why are we so thin with upperclassmen at LB? It's like we have no depth (1 upperclassmen in the two deep)

Could be injury, talent or performance

How do we only have 6 LB's on the team? That doesn't even make sense.

Just a feeling that In a 4-2-5 you can get away with 6 or 7, if you believe you have a few of the defensive backs that can push up

Why are we so thin with upperclassmen at LB? It's like we have no depth (1 upperclassmen in the two deep) Based on previous rosters lb's. Blake Flovin transferred and is playing at Montana State. Jesse Conners transferred and is playing at Syracuse. Bucceroni, Whitley and Lowery were moved to D-line. Knight is playing safety.

How do you even practice with 6 LB's? To start a season with that type of depth is absolutely insane when you factor in potential injuries.
Normally, rosters are close to double that.

It requires a lot of tweaking and experience to defend against teams that get their line and backs to the perimeter with speed-Navy, Colgate and BC last year.
Not a scheme I prefer, but one they feel comfortable with and have recruited effectively for after 2 classes. So I would give it time and watch how we adjust

On the earliest, complete roster from 2008 on the website, there are 17 LB's. 17....

Not when teams are winning...at least not nearly as loudly or as often.

Never once played on a team with 17 LBs. Not once. Insane to have that many at that position.
Seems like 4crusader3 has all the answers to coaching these days regarding scheme as well. Should sign him up.

Obviously a difference between teams that play a 3-4 and those which line up as 4-2

Didn't say 6 was a little light. I know they've already recruited 2 into this class. I think 8/9 is about right. IMO a roster these days with everyone being so pass happy and normally a lot of DB/WR's playing special teams I might go:
5 - QB 6 - RB 15 - OL 5 - TE 12 - WR 2 - P 2 - K 1 - LS 8 - LB 5 - DE 8/9 - DT 7 - Corners 4 - FS 5 - SS/Roving Linebacker
That's a roster of 86 right there that I'd be comfortable with - give or take.

Look at the difference in schedules:
HC
Navy UNH Yale Syracuse Bucknell Brown Harvard Colgate Lehigh Lafayette Fordham Georgetown
UNH
HC Florida Int'l URI Duquesne Elon Stony Brook Delaware Nova JMU Albany Maine
Who would prefer that HC play UNH's schedule? Would that schedule really "move our needle"? Would it lead to greater fan interest in HC Football?

Ours is a tale of two schedules—strong OOC and the weak PL UNH has an average OOC to a relatively strong Conference sched

Last year UNH's 3-game OOC was Colgate, University of Colorado, and Holy Cross. And 8 games in the CAA.

In my world the objective is to win the PL and have a demanding, but reasonable, OOC schedule. Hypothetically you have the PL games plus two low to middle D 1s (one Academy and lower MAC or every couple years include BC/UConn/UMass), two Ivies, William and Mary and UNH/Nova
Could be one of the better 1AA schedules, attract talented players, and get the team to the playoffs. Even if that becomes reality, I am not sure all on the board would be happy
