This year's schedule is fabulous. Now that we know HC isn't competitive vs the two FBS teams it takes a little shine off, but the plan is to continue having plus recruiting classes and stronger teams, right? At least incentives are aligned. Chesney can't move up until he turns the program around, so everybody should be rowing in the same direction.

Look at the difference in schedules:
HC
Navy UNH Yale Syracuse Bucknell Brown Harvard Colgate Lehigh Lafayette Fordham Georgetown
UNH
HC Florida Int'l URI Duquesne Elon Stony Brook Delaware Nova JMU Albany Maine
Who would prefer that HC play UNH's schedule? Would that schedule really "move our needle"? Would it lead to greater fan interest in HC Football? Other than ‘Nova, I’m not the least bit interested. (Maybe the Blue Hens.)

In my world the objective is to win the PL and have a demanding, but reasonable, OOC schedule. Hypothetically you have the PL games plus two low to middle D 1s (one Academy and lower MAC or every couple years include BC/UConn/UMass), two Ivies, William and Mary and UNH/Nova Could be one of the better 1AA schedules, attract talented players, and get the team to the playoffs. Even if that becomes reality, I am not sure all on the board would be happy I’d like to see us play the likes of Northwestern and Rice for OOC. And I bet our alums in Chicago and Texas would like that as well.

Why are we so thin with upperclassmen at LB? It's like we have no depth (1 upperclassmen in the two deep) Based on previous rosters lb's. Blake Flovin transferred and is playing at Montana State. Jesse Conners transferred and is playing at Syracuse. Bucceroni, Whitley and Lowery were moved to D-line. Knight is playing safety. Do you know if Flovin and Conners are walk-ons at their new schools? (Flovin played against Texas Tech and credited with being in on two tackles. Connors is a red-shirt junior at Syracuse. (I may have answered my own question.)

I don't know if they are walk-ons, but the power conference teams seem to like transfers with two years of eligibility left because they get players with three years of post-high school development, physical maturity and coaching before they play a down then they get two good playing years with little learning curve. In the case of Grandison he will have had four years of post-high school development including his PG year before he plays a minute and will have little or no learning curve because of a year of practice in the IU system.
