Equally egregious as fumbling is handing it off in your end zone in that situation. There is an epidemic of this sh***t and it's not limited to Holy Cross. Extra syllable in sh***t but you get a Mulligan. I was standing behind the end zone fence and still couldn't figure it out. Marcus Bloom was behind the UNH corner of the end zone with his adorable daughter hugging his leg. Great to see his astonishment. I told him he changed our luck. HC used to lose games at the end like this. My second paraphrasing of that word, the extended "sheet" can be credited to Senator Clay Davis from The Wire.

I think we're all happy we got the win - I think we all agree the defense did a great job today - I think we can all agree our offense is not playing up to it's potential.
Beat Yale!

It's nice to see a great slugfest, defensive battle. Teams can't always score 30+ points. Look at this year's Super Bowl. QB is a problem on this team. They will struggle on offense for a while. Defense looked fast and seems to have good depth. Lots of Sophomores making plays. DL played great. Got pressure with rushing just 3 most of the game. Great win over a CAA team. UNH will be fine. This is a big win.

Just watched the replay and noticed that at least four of our guys were running off the field celebrating what they thought was a safety while other guys were still working for the TD. Need to play to the whistle.

Official attendance = 8372 That number ooked to be about right (with fewer than c5000 in the stands for the. kick-off). I wonder if stats may take on a more legitimate appearance under our new AD?

There has been much understandable criticism of our offense - 7&10 pts. games 1&2. I defer to the former players, coaches and experts and would appreciate an answer to these questions: Doesn't the defense usually start out the season ahead of the offense? Could this apply to the HC offense at this point in the season? Also, I was unable to watch the game due to a family obligation. I tried and failed to sneak away but the family visit was wonderful. It is my understanding that as the season progresses, more offensive sets and more options are added to the playbook. Thus, with more practice time and better execution with a greater variety of plays, the offense improves over the course of the season. Obviously, the improvement depends on the level and type of talent on offense. Is this an oversimplification? Honestly, I would appreciate an answer. LoveHC Yes - Typically offenses get off to a bit of a slower start than defenses. But this is also our second game and UNH's first (it will be our 3rd and Yale's first next week) Also, even taking all of the above into consideration I think there is a general concern re: the offensive play-calling and schema in general..

Not really oversimplified in theory. However, improvement can be limited by the potential, attitude, and actual talent of the players. Before our first game I felt the team was "ready" and they were (and are) certainly "willing." The question is are they "able" at this point of. the season? Yes, they were able to get the win today. Yes, in two weeks, with good practices between now and then, they could (and should) be more "able." But will it be enough to beat Yale?
The Eli are still smarting from our win last year. They will be out for blood (or whatever it is that Ivy League "gentlemen" are out for). Yale will be favored (one has Yale a 14 point favorite - 35-21), but HC can pull this off...IF we continue to improve (and perhaps have our QB take a snap or two under center?).

More than likely, other than the Syracuse game, the defense will give the team a chance to win. Does HC have a QB that will allow them to open up the offense to succeed? From what I saw today I'm not sure the guy starting right now is the one. Time will tell.

Many people here mention Duffner's assistants, they were top notch, no one on this staff could work for Duffner. We do need a new offensive coach.

When he keeps his composure seems like CD throws a pretty good deep ball. Looks a little shaky at times in the pocket. More game reps could help.
Oliver would sure look good in a goal line Power I package.

Great win, even if lucky. OC needs to be replaced ASAP. The offensive play calling is atrocious.
Offense owes Defense a few beers at McGuires (still there?)

Great win, even if lucky. Better than to be lucky than good sometimes what was luck .? the hard tackle that caused the fumble ? do not they happen frequently in a football game ? hardly luck

They have holes but would bet in the weeks ahead they will be better. Performance of the offensive line, an advantage for us, is hurt by the predictability of the offense and that topic has been raised by others. but an OOC win is a win!

FHCTG loses that game 100 out of 100 times.
Did anyone else give any thought to Ng running around to burn those last 12 seconds? Maybe take the safety? Or have a DB or RB take the punt snap and do the same thing?

We’ll have to review that key play to Properly allocate individual accolades. In total game action this non expert saw John Smith #27 make some really nice hits

Is Duffner’s OC available?? I’ll take him any day of the week over the current one-even if he’s old. Chesney’s fate is tied to his unimaginative OC. Duffner's OC had Jeff Wiley and Tom Ciaccio as his quarterbacks. Situation today is a little different. Different players on both sides -with that said I would welcome him as an advisor to the current staff

QB is a problem on this team. 21-34 for 253 with 0 interceptions in his second career start against a solid team. Yes, the offense could not score a TD, but to me that was more a product of a weak running game. 62 yards on 35 attempts. Not that much of a QB problem

Taking a safety unless you have wasted 12 seconds doing so would give them the ball back in decent, or better with a strong return, field position. A field goal would win it for UNH. 12 seconds is a long time to run around with not that much room behind us.

When he sets his feet and steps it"nto his throws he is good..Too often he has "happy feet", they never get set and makes some throws that are late and not much on it....
