This one is so strange - Kansas lost to Coastal Carolina 13-7 last week at home- they were 20 pt dogs tonight at BC and they absolutely dominated the eagles and won 48-24 - go figure ! Although most of us take great pleasure with this score

Kansas got nearly 600 yards of offense and did it in three quarters...they even got an 82 yard run up the middle at the end of the half when they were simply trying to run out the clock

Kansas also barely beat usual MVC doormat Indiana State to open the season.

I'm actually impressed they played an out of conference game against a BCS school

“Impressed” is rarely the word I would use for anything connected to bc.

I'm actually impressed they played an out of conference game against a BCS school Kansas is probably the only FBS program I can think of thats more of a dumpster fire than UCONN. Worst P5 program the past 10 years hands down. Didn't the fans storm the field for a win over Rhode Island a couple years back?

Kansas would smoke Conn, and you better include UMess in this list, as they'd kill them too.

Kansas would definitely beat either UMess or UConn handily.
But I'd say Kansas' level of prolonged futility is more embarrassing considering their P5 status.

Could be wrong but sounds like some posters are unaware that Les Miles is in his first year at Kansas. I suspect he'll have a winner soon.

Kansas is not LSU If he does succeed, it will be one of the more impressive turnarounds

Charlie Weis tried to turn that program around as well and was an epic failure. Miles had a much longer run of success at LSU than Weis did at ND, where he was exposed as an overrated head coach fairly quickly.

Mark Mangino got them to the Orange Bowl; no other coach has had a winning record there since 1948 (Mangino overall was 50-48).
Remember a head-to-head (or should I say belly to belly) matchup between him and the Toledo coach, both gargantuan fellows.

In 1987 or 1988 SI had an article about them and K State (pre Bill Snyder) that showed the futility of both programs. When they listed the number of players on scholarship (much more like FCS than BCS),the ooc wins (not very many),etc.; I think one could have easily made the case that Duffner's teams would have beaten either one of them.

Oh no question....the 87 team beat Army 34-24 and it wasn't that close...we were up 27-3 at H and 34-10 late when we called the dogs off. The next week Army won 41-14 at Kansas St.
That KSU team tied Kansas, so I'm certain we would have beaten them as well

As bad as Kansas has been over the decades it still has produced some great NFL players with John Riggins and Gale Sayers coming immediately to mind--John Hadl as well.

Kansas is not LSU If he does succeed, it will be one of the more impressive turnarounds True but he has the personal name recognition, facilities, increased budget, etcetera to win. Already getting good recruits.
