Why is this a separate "Yale Preview" thread from the one that was started last week because...?

Pretty tight-lipped on the Yale side (via their blog) so far this week. Really not sure what their strength: O or D will be on Saturday. Like most teams, their D will probably be ahead of their O which means it could be another UNH-type game.
What a late start to the season for the Ivies this year....this should help HC some on Saturday with the 2 games undah our belts.

What was up with no team books at the home game vs UNH?

Here are 5 comments on the Ivy League board with the thread titled "Upset Special of the Week" . (1-Vox1) Holy Cross over Yale. More a referendum on the Crusaders (Chesney) having a better HC than Yale (Reno).
(2-Anonymous) Too much talent on Yale's roster. Last years loss didn't sit well with the team they will be more than ready for Holy Cross this week. That being said Reno will cost them at least one game this year just not this one.
(3-Jerrylh) Yale had a problem on defense last year. However, there are a lot of returnees and that year of experience makes a difference. Yale by 2-3 touchdowns.
(4-old blue) gentlemen; prediction is pipedream at best. our blue squad will prevail. wildcats are winless and crusaders were lucky blocking a punt late in the fourth quarter in the end zone for their only touchdown.
(5-HC87) It was actually a recovered fumble for a TD not a blocked punt but I quibble.
Kind of hard to get a good read yet on where the Saders are in Year 2 of Chesney. Hung somewhat with Navy for a half and squeaked one out against a UNH team missing its Head Coach and with a new QB.
The young kids Chesney has brought in are starting to have an impact on both sides of the ball. The QB has been more of a game manager but he hasn't been that bad overall...0 ints. The defense looked solid against UNH, the O struggled in the red zone but moved the ball at times.
I think the fact that HC has 2 games under its belt (against fairly solid competition) will help the Saders a bit on Saturday.

I like the “Wildcats are winless” rationale for why the HC win wasn’t a good one. Well, they’ve only played one opponent besides us and it was an FBS team.

Wouldn't mind winning the turnover battle again.

I like the “Wildcats are winless” rationale for why the HC win wasn’t a good one. Well, they’ve only played one opponent besides us and it was an FBS team. And their next two, URI and Duquesne, are certainly winnable. If they lose v URI (and it is essentially a pick 'em game) it will be a very very long season for our UNH friends. The redshirt frosh QB they started against us and who was yanked/benched the entire second half is now their backup QB and they are going with their true frosh (who started and played quite well their second game). As far as Yale goes I'd like to see us score early and open a lead - last second comebacks like we had last year v Yale are more likely at home (IMHO). They may have a talented roster but they are undoubtedly working thru some first-game kinks as UNH was so that will be in our favor (not decisive but perhaps significant). Looks like perfect weather and a fast track so I'd like to see Crozier make an impact from the backfield and see our experienced OL play the way we thought they would. (While I picked Yale to win [talent and home field] I don't see a repeat of the of the last [and horrendous] visit to the Yale Bowl.)

Crozier = the curved staff carried by a bishop Cozier = Domenic, the Holy Cross running back. /\ I pride myself on never correcting misspellings, autocorrects, and grammatical choices here on Crossports. But it is kinda cool to see others do it.
(Somebody with too much time will probably note a missing period on the first line of your post...or an unnecessary period on the second line. )

I don't mind when the corrector teaches me a new vocabulary word. Perhaps "Crozier" was defined in Religion Class but I was probably gazing out the window.

As an altar boy(server now) to a Bishop, I had to be able to identify a Crozier

For those that enjoy "history", I have attached a link with pictures of a game used football from the 1902 Yale National Championship team, coached by Walter Camp. There are various photos of the football and of George Chadwick, a former Captain and Yale All American, where the collection originated. It's amazing to think that this 4 years prior to the forward pass (1906) and these teams just gutted it out in the trenches with the father of football coaching from the sidelines. southwestpioneer.com/2017/02/16/1902-yale-game-used-football/Beat Yale

Thanks. Very nice. UVM must have taken the train to New Haven. One with a good cow catcher on the front of the locomotive.

This game will be a revealing window in to how well our coaches can adapt and prepare our guys. Personally, I am optimistic! Go Cross!
