At the quarter point just some thoughts...
Defense is a pleasant surprise and the part is that for the most part they are young. Big addition was Mike Pucko coaching the defensive line. He's done a great job with an undersized group. Right now the defense IMO is close to being top level FCS.
Offense is pretty much where I thought it would be. If they thought Degenhardt could play he would have been the starter last year and they wouldn't have been on the transfer market. If they were able to get Perry everything would have been different. If Butash were ready he'd be in. No QB = no offense. Degenhardt is timid and it shows in the rest of the group. I also believe that the struggles of the offense are no surprise to the coaching staff.
Once they get through this weekend at Syracuse this team will be in every game. When they win it will be ugly. They are going to be pretty much in every game. Tough to see them getting blown out with this defensive group.
The talent level on the team is improving. Sophomore class is making an impact. Lack of senior and junior depth is evident. The future is bright. Once this team gets a half-way decent QB watch out.

I'm with you on the future. I've said it before, Chesney and the coaching staff are building the foundation for the future.
There is lots of banter / complaining on this board by a few select participants... Take some time to look at what's good and what's coming. "Rome wasn't built in a day".. Hate to use that old adage. It is completely applicable in this case.
