Are we agreed that had we not beaten Mercer and were 0-13 that we would be #353?

We're getting right there when Chris Spitler proclaimed himself the worst player on the worst team in the worst conference.
The MEAC has 3 teams rated lower in Massey than HC, so we've got that going for us

I remember the good old says when our ranking was expected to go down when we got to conference play because the rest of the PL was so much weaker. (sigh). We pretty much have to go up from where we are now. (double sigh).

Are we agreed that had we not beaten Mercer and were 0-13 that we would be #353? Sure, so long as we agree that if we had beaten Fairfield and UNH we would have gone up a little. The point is that none of that happened. We are who we are based upon the games as they were played

"What ifs" seem to litter CROSSPORTS. "What if...we got one of players who decided not to enroll at HC (a thread for each one)? ....we had not had two starters (roommates?) bail out on the team? ....we had joined a different conference? ....we had not hired the coaches we did? ....we hired someone who was not offered a job at HC .... aorta's someone who is now coaching somewhere else? ....we had won the close games HC lost this year? ....we had lost to Mercer? The list could go on and on. What if we stopped posting imaginary scenarios and then stating our imaginary consequences as if they were reality? Might we be a bit more grounded in reality in the coming year? In any case, may you and yours be well and have a MOST HAPPY NEW YEAR. ....

Even at a lowly #330 in KenPom, we're ranked ahead of sixteen teams with better records, including a handful with four or five wins.

My "what if" was an indirect way of saying that the results are embarrassing (or should be) for:
1. the players (I know, injuries/illness/disciplinary suspensions - the last is on the players involved)
2. the coaching staff, especially head coach Nelson (they are your guys now, Brett, and you'd be the first to agree) I am sure he wasn't aware of how this would develop but still, "Life is not a matter of holding good cards but of playing a poor hand well."
3. Former coach Carmody for taking a program wallowing in mediocrity under Milan Brown and taking it right down the tubes with players kicked off the team, leaving for other schools. ( 'nuf said)
4. the Administration. (Yeah, you get credit for letting the Luth be built, but it cost you virtually nothing thanks to the Luths and many others)
Alum, I do agree that had we won those 2 games - winnable ones at that - our ranking would have been higher. In fact, a win over any other team we lost to except UMass-Boston, would have helped.

Are we agreed that had we not beaten Mercer and were 0-13 that we would be #353? And if we played Mercer another 10 times they would beat us in 9 of them....

Former coach Carmody for taking a program wallowing in mediocrity under Milan Brown and taking it right down the tubes with players kicked off the team, leaving for other schools. ( 'nuf said) (Not really, since he brought home a PL tournament title and the first NCAA win in over 50 years. He also brought home an early season tournament last season. Now 'nut said.)

Lutz announced that on the radio. Without some hard facts anything else is DNP-CD

I am trying to focus on the long term, and not worry so much about the present day record. Individually, I am clinging on to a few things seen in the last couple of games: RWade looking like he is slowly ramping up.....maybe the same for MF.....at Siena, saw CN take the ball from the wing, put it on the floor, and Full Nelson style, went all the way to the tin for a layup - not sure I've seen that from him before. You can also see some potential from MH to be decent in league games, just needs to string together a couple of strong performances. JP? If he can continue to do what he has been doing he'll be hard to beat out for ROY. Collectively, might not be anything; and they still need much improvement on D...but I do feel like we are seeing some very subtle signs of The Full Nelson starting to take hold. Feel free to attack if they lose by 30 tomorrow.
