Nice to see RJ take over the game in the 4th quarter... A pretty solid level of play....Like most incoming freshman, RJ has to learn a bit about defense....but he showed quickness and the ability to score with both hands....A lot to be pleased about!!

Really excited about RJ, especially reading about all of the intangibles he brings to the table. But I have to be honest about year: it feels like Dad Nelson will be giving the keys to the family sedan to a 16 year old with a learners permit, while he has a bunch of his buddies crammed in screaming "go faster, dude, go faster!". I think we have to expect some warnings and speeding tickets, and maybe a fender bender or two. Then hopefully by year 2 there's so much trust Dad can let him take the crew cross country without any concerns.

We have had successful 16 year old permit drivers. Jave Meade did not start, but more importantly finished and led the 2001 team to the NCAAs. Caleb Green’s 2018 team was not a winner, but he had a good season. Bobby Kelly had a very good freshman season in 1979. And of course, a freshman point came off the bench long ago to help win an NCAA championship.

True, hoops, but outside of Caleb's situation, none have had to concentrate on "driving" while being surrounded by so many young kids. I'm just hoping everyone is patient with his development, and doesn't start going crazy if he struggles early.

I am afraid there is no limit to the ability of some to find reasons to "go crazy" when it comes to HC hoops.

True, NAD, but three vets will probably play big minutes so while there may be 2 frosh bigs on the court for considerable minutes, the minutes of the freshman wings will most likely be significantly fewer

Let's hope the car he is driving is automatic shift with excellent tires, a reliable engine, and great brakes

Let's hope the car he is driving is automatic shift with excellent tires, a reliable engine, and great brakes On this car, virtually everything is brand new. While that is good for a car, I think this is where the analogy breaks down with regard to a college basketball team.

Let's hope the car he is driving is automatic shift with excellent tires, a reliable engine, and great brakes One could hope but the reality is it will largely be a rebuilt model with lots of unknown parts heading into the season.

Two frosh were our best players last year....one for half the year and one for a full season. Unfortunately neither is returning.
Let’s hope we don’t lose any of these 7 frosh to the transfer portal next go round.

I hope we don't have to read over and over about the possibility of players transferring. The possibility is always there (as we now know quite well). If worrying about it or talking about it could help I would be all for that. However, I would rather we just understand the reality if a possible transfer, and move on...bypassing endless posts about it.

Unfortunately it appears the transfer epidemic is here to stay, it used to be that players transferred for the most part due to a lack of playing time, now even starting players are transferring. Not as much fun following a program having no idea what the roster will be from year to year.

RJ will be just fine as will the rest of the roster in terms of contribution.
The key will be rotations and game management, which we all pray will significantly improve in the days ahead!
We all want everybody to succeed -
