They seemed to deal with keeping secret's pretty well last year, so not really a very valid excuse. Manis had maybe the worst game of her career, they played poorly down the stretch. It's not the end of the world. The PL seems to have more parity from 2-7 than in a long time. I would not be shocked if this is another one of those outlier years where a 5 or 6 seed wins the tournament, not predicting that, but wouldn't be surprised.

Hope you are right. In stretches when HC is clicking they can appear unstoppable. If those stretches come at the right times they could go all the way.

Haven’t watched the team closely but not sure the performance is good enough to keep the current coaches around long term. I think we need a fresh start for a number of reasons, some basketball, some all the other stuff.

I think we need a fresh start for a number of reasons, some basketball, some all the other stuff. If that is the case I will make a rare endorsement of something FADNP did. I favor the Bob Chesney coaching background over the Sean Kearney/Brett Nelson background when selecting a new Head Coach for a revenue sport at Holy Cross. Let the successful applicant learn how to build a winning program on someone else's dime, not ours. Give us the transparency to see what an applicant has accomplished as the principal, not the opaque view through the filter of what their head coach accomplished. Although probably this particicular example is out of our league unless ADMB is a super salesman, the Carla Berube advancement from Tufts to Princeton is in the same mold as the Bob Chesney advancement from Assumption to Holy Cross.

Unless you're really into women's college basketball, you (and I would include myself in that "you") would be much more likely to have heard of a local coach doing well with a smaller program than some big time assistant, unless the assistant was some great player somewhere. (only exception to that in my case would be Chris Dailey at UConn).
So, yes, if they make a change, I hope they go that way because I'd rather have heard of the person.

Will this become another thread about possible replacements for a coach who is still here and for a position that is currently not open?

It might turn out that way, Rob, but there is a big difference. The HC women's basketball coach was specifically and clearly given the title "interim head coach" which, by definition, means temporary in nature. From memory, I believe the announcement even more specifically said she would be interim head coach for this season. The other discussion threads dealt with people that were/are "permanent" with no modifiers before their titles. This smacks of someone else we know who feels it is easier to just make appointees "acting" as it is so much easier to just say "YOU'RE FIRED!" if performance is less than expected.

Why are we (and ADMB) willing to give Nelson a break till he gets his recruits and not extend the same to McInerny?

Thank you Sam Donaldson. One reason is because Nelson was hired by the current AD after an expensive Nationwide search and given a lucrative long term contract and AM was just told to move one seat down the bench and act like Calvin Coolidge regarding all of the controversy swirling around the program.

Another reason is that AM clearly has a great deal of talent on her roster. Her team was picked 2nd in the preseason poll, narrowly missing 1st, and has the preseason POY plus a very good PG. Nelson inherited a team picked for last.

Nelson inherited a team picked for last. After the top two players mentioned there are great Crusaders, but with skill sets that can be countered by good defenses, and then a thin bench. It's going to be a good stretch run to follow because this team could put it all together but there isn't much room for error.

and another reason is that coach Mac has been on the staff that recruited underwhelming talent in the frosh-soph-jr classes of which the best player (AL) came to us after de-committing from Canisius after a coaching change there (fair to say a very fortunate turn of events for HC)

There aren't many PL (or midmajor teams in general), where this wouldn't be true.
