I put my question in the wrong place...I meant, was Assumption any good in anything other than hoop? Yeah, you're 100% right about gymnastics. Spfld was D2, not sure why they moved down. In the late 60s/early 70s when HC played them in hoop, it was a tough game. Assumption is good in football. Thanks Coach Chesney

Troubling to say the least. Maybe they got a deep discount on the turf due to its color. Kind of like a hideous looking yellow-green house I see in Worcester. The paint store probably paid them to take the color off their shelves.

Gymnastics back in the day. The SC swim team played HC during homecoming weekend 2019. I watched during halftime of the MBB game. It was competitive. A friend earned a Masters in Rehab Counseling at Springfield College. Along with Assumption they were the local school for that. Without going to Wikipedia I will say Dr. James Naismith taught Phys Ed at Springfield - could be wrong. Springfield has a swim meet with HC pretty much every year. The Springfield swim coach's sister was Coach Parenteau's first and probably biggest star at HC so there's a personal connection there. Dr Naismith did teach at Springfield

Springfield beat us in the swimming dual meet regularly when I was in college. Great D-III sports program all around.
They also had a reputation for rampant steroid use in their football program, which was also very good at the time.

Chris Pincince is the head football coach, he was at HC at the beginning of the Gilmore era. He kick-started our offensive dominance at the time and seamlessly handed the reigns to Mike Pedone. After the 2007 season, Pince left to take the OC job at Rhode Island a la Murphy 12 years later. I totally forgot that Pince was the HC at New Haven. While I'm overall (very) skeptical about the school being a good candidate for D-I, I would love to see Chris get the opportunity to be a HC at the FCS level whether it be at New Haven or somewhere else in the near future.
