When do these players begin committing ?

Post by dharry13 on Apr 7, 2020 13:49:26 GMT -5
I believe last year the first reported commitment was 6/30 from Terrance Spence; Not sure of 2018
With the Dead Period extended to 5/31 regarding visits to a school and camps being suspended/canceled I would suspect a lot of that being pushed back. I would think a lot of these kids would want to see the campus before committing. Certainly it's a decided advantage for HC to get them on campus to see the facilities.

Love the competition between you two guys - we won't miss an offer, that's for sure ! For the record, I am very appreciative of the fact that dharry13 is so vigilant with respect to offers to recruits. It looks like we were finding the same tweets about the offers today at about the same time, and I certainly do not want it to seem that I am stepping on his toes.

Sarasota - as i've stated on this before. I actually know people who are Personnel Directors for D1 teams. As i've stated before with his words - if you don't offer you don't get.
You continue to use this work shotgunning - I guess you continue to use it because for some reason you think you are right regarding this topic and what Holy Cross is doing.
I'll leave it to the people who actually do this for a living and I'll trust the outcomes of the last two classes.
I guess your suggestion is offer 50 kids total and hopefully somehow, someway get a 40% close rate. Good luck with that idea.
I'll await your next shotgunning announcement around offer #120. Then again around offer #170, then again around offer #200.

For the sake of argument, let's say that the typical student-athlete gets 8 offers. "All things being equal", I.e. if your program is of average appeal versus the other schools making offers, logic would suggest you should expect to get 1/8th of the signees. When you aim high and are competing with some very appealing programs (FBS, Ivy schools, CAA) you might not get 1 of every 8 you offer. Isn't that what Coach Chesney is doing: aiming high? We could do the 50 offers & 40% conversion strategy of we only make offers where we compete with Bryant, Marist, and D-2 programs. I think Coach Chesney and staff know what they are doing

"Hey, I just offered Rachel Welch to take her on a date." "You have as much chance as a snowball in hell" "If you don't offer, you don't get."

Sophomoric analogy, but nonetheless you can continue along your crusade to insist they are "shot gunning" offers. Whatever that means.
Again - I'll leave it to the people who know what they are doing along with countless other Division 1, 2 and 3 staffs.
Oh BTW - the guys who got dates with Rachel actually had to ask her the question in order to go on said date.
