Lausanne won the 2A state championship today, and Montgomery (11 points) was named to the All-Tournament team.
MVP was five-star junior center Moussa Cisse, who had 15 points 10 rebounds and nine blocks. He had 17 triple-doubles this season.

I saw Cisse as a freshman and soph for Christ the King in the city. He has NBA athleticism and potential skills, esp on the defensive end.

I like the 6 assists to 1 turnover. Perhaps he can play the point. I also like his size for a guard and I really like the Carolina blue sneakers.

I'm just wondering how much room is actually available at the inn! My guess is that We will have 13 scholarship players in the fall, no more, no less, and probably no transfers. i think that there is at least one scholarship available and will go to whoever commits first If there are two, then that goes to the next commit

I certainly hope not.
No matter how much we are in love with Coach Nelson's recruits, I'd like a little stability in the program
I don't know what "personal" matter caused Copeland to take a leave of absence. I hope it's not serious enough to permanently leave the school
If we're seriously speculating about a 3rd opening, I can't see how potentially having six scholarship players leave the team in a 12 month period could possibly be considered a good thing

If Reilly isn’t on scholarship that leaves the program with six scholarship players plus four incoming frosh. This is all speculation on my part but I think it is a possibility.

I know the whole Reilly walk on theory became popular when commits happened that we assumed we didn't have room for. The head coach having a sense of what was going on with Lowder, Hargis, and/or Copeland still seems way more probable than Reilly making a last minute decision to come to Worcester without a scholarship. I've read all the theories on the board why it could potentially be true, but none seem as probable as the coach having information that we don't have

When Reilly enrolled at HC Lowder, Hargis, and Copeland will still on the team and thus still on scholarship, right?

When Reilly enrolled at HC Lowder, Hargis, and Copeland will still on the team and thus still on scholarship, right? That is correct. The opening came from one of the scholarships vacated by Green and Grandison Who is and who is not on scholarship didn't really become a question until the 3rd guy (Rabinovich?) signed. Then we all decided that Sandy wasn't on scholarship. Things got confusing when we heard that the staff was still out looking. Things got really confusing when Johnson signed over Christmas break so we all decided we were wrong about Reilly and that he wasn't on scholarship either since Johnson would have been the 14th player. It wasn't long after that that the disappearances started happening. I don't think for one minute the staff had any hint of defections in August when there were two scholarships being unused for the season and Reilly came on board. I also don't think it's a huge stretch that the staff had a sense of Lowder leaving a couple of weeks before he officially left the team.

If it helps anyone else keep track, I wrote down what I think we know or don’t about the scholarship situation. Barring any surprise defections, we should have at least 10 definite scholarship players next season. I put Copeland, Reilly and Sandy in a different category because of uncertainty around scholarship status (Sandy) or return (Copeland) or possibly both (Reilly). Yeutter and Hart are the only two on whom I believe there is universal agreement as to their walk-on status. Sandy would seem to be non-schollie but I recall at least one knowledgeable poster saying he was on schollie. Given that we have made recent offers, it seems likely at least one of Sandy, Reilly and Copeland is either not on scholarship or is not returning. Either that or someone else is transferring which would make me curl up in the fetal position and cry.
2024 Humphrey Johnson Rabinovich Martindale
2023 Wade Pridgen
2022 Verbeek
2021 Butler Niego Faw
2020 Return and/or Scholarship Uncertain: Copeland Sandy Reilly
Definite Walk-ons: Yeutter Hart

Great work 92. This should settle the issue for a few days. It will pop up again on anther thread before too long.

thanks 92 so if Sandy is a walk on, if we still have one or two scholarships to give , that would mean either Reilly is not on scholarship and/or Copeland is not returning

Note that the anouncements for Ciaran Sandy and Joey Reilly come from two different coaches but have the same careful wording: "will attend Holy Cross and play for the Crusaders", with no mention of a scholarship or National Letter of Intent.
NOVEMBER 15, 2018 WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head men's basketball coach Bill Carmody announced today that three student-athletes have signed national letters of intent to play for the Crusaders. Drew Lowder, Joe Pridgen and Ryan Wade will join the Holy Cross program in the fall of 2019.
AUGUST 14, 2019 WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head men's basketball coach Brett Nelson announced today that Joey Reilly (Cromwell, Conn.) will attend Holy Cross and play for the Crusaders. Reilly will be one of five players joining the Holy Cross program for the 2019-2020 season.
MAY 30,2019 WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head men's basketball coach Bill Carmody announced today that Ciaran Sandy will attend Holy Cross and play for the Crusaders. Sandy will be one of four players joining the Holy Cross program in the fall of 2019.
Here's the announcement for Hart, Lovisolo, Yeutter, all acknowledged as walk-ons.
JUNE 13, 2018 WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head men's basketball coach Bill Carmody has announced the addition of three student-athletes to the program's incoming class. D.J. Hart (Newark, N.J.), Chris Lovisolo (Allendale, N.J.) and Lincoln Yeutter (Chevy Chase, Md.) will join the Crusaders in the fall of 2018, bringing Holy Cross' freshman class to a total of five players.
Hargis & Verbeek: clearly on scholarship
MAY 10 2018 WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head men's basketball coach Bill Carmody announced today that two student-athletes have signed national letters of intent to play for the Crusaders. Marlon Hargis (Mays Landing, N.J.) and Blake Verbeek (Grand Rapids, Mich.) will join the Holy Cross program in the fall of 2018.

Reilly could be on scholarship and Copeland could return and we would still have one scholarship available. If we get two commitments then either Reilly is not on scholarship or Copeland is not returning.

Reilly could be on scholarship and Copeland could return and we would still have one scholarship available. Not if Sandy is on scholarship. I have reason to think he is.
All speculation - 92's breakdown is about as definitive as we can be at the moment. Perhaps one or two additional 2020s cannot commit until the makeup of the current roster is officially clarified. And that may not happen for awhile yet.

When did the Green and Grandison scholarships become available? I'm quite sure it was after the May 30 announcement on Ciaran Sandy. Was it before the August 14, 2019 announcement on Reilly? For perspective: Carmody retirement was announced on June 18 and Nelson hire was announced on July 3. Before the Green and Grandison departures I think the picture was clear
Class of 2010=1 LeSann
Class of 2021=6 Copeland Butler Green Grandison Faw Niego
Class of 2022= 2 Hargis Verbeek
Class of 2023 coming in= 3 Lowder Wade Pridgen
That equals 13.
That tells me that Sandy is a walkon as we anticipated that we would have the full complement of 13 scholarship players for Coach Carmody for the 19-20 season.
