2020 NCAA Tournament games to be played without fans in attendance due to coronavirus By Kyle Boone Mar 11, 2020 at 4:44 pm ET • 1 min read In response to concerns over the spread of coronavirus the NCAA announced Wednesday that only essential staff, players and coaches and limited family will be able to attend championships including the NCAA Tournament . "I have made the decision to conduct our upcoming championship events, including the Division I men's and women's basketball tournaments, with only essential staff and limited family attendance," NCAA President Mark Emmert in a statement. "While I understand how disappointing this is for all fans of our sports, my decision is based on the current understanding of how COVID-19 is progressing in the United States."

Think this may have any blowback for Ohio in future seasons?

Huh? Blowback? Idiocy not to do it. Our own Anthony Fauci has been pushing for this. He’s a real leader who speaks to facts, not happy talk, deceptive nonsense.

So I can put you down as a "no blowback," correct?

LeBron said "I won't play in an empty arena." There is no "I" in world emergency Lebron, please be a good role model for responsible response to the virus.

He won't be playing in empty arenas because there will be no games. NBA is suspending games. Player from Jazz has tested positive. Jazz and their last few opponents have been requested to self quarantine.

I still remember when Magic Johnson tested positive for HIV and some players who said they were uncomfortable playing against him were mocked for saying that. Now one player tests positive for the covid-19 virus and the NBA suspends the season. Times have certainly changed.

Apples and oranges. One person with the virus in New Rochelle has now infected 108 people. HIV was far, far less contagious.

Remember HIV can be far, far more frequently fatal.

Generally, very true, but not if you are a nursing home resident.

Remember HIV can be far, far more frequently fatal. Is it more accurate to say HIV could be more frequently fatal. Back in 1992 it was basically a death sentence. The fact that Johnson seems basically OK 30 years later tells me that medical research has made great strides in that area. HIV might not be curable, but it doesn't seem to be nearly as fatal as it once was

People who are HIV positive are living longer...and I am thankful that is true. However, the death rate from HIV-related illnesses (people do not actually die from HIV, but from whatever disease is contracted because the immune system is too compromised to fight it) is far higher than that from COVID-19. (What is the difference, if any, between "can" and "could?" After all, I did not say "is.")

VCU and UMass were on the floor ready for tipoff at the Barclays Center. The game was cancelled, along with the rest of the A10 tournament.
It's hard to see the NCAA Tournament taking place at this rate.

Not trying to be grammar police, I don't know if in 2020, HIV can be far, far, more frequently fatal than COVID-19.. In 1992, HIV was far, far more frequently fatal than COVID appears to be today, but harder to catch. In spite of the differing degrees of what it takes to transmit the disease, your point is taken and I probably should have let it go

At this point it’s not even new anymore when the next event or league gets cancelled.
Basically unless you are in the health care field, grocery, petro/convenience, food/beverage distribution or essential government employee, most are looking at being home for the next couple of months.

Duke and Kansas have today effectively pulled out of the tournament by banning all travel. The NCAA Tournament is highly unlikely to go on.
