Rudy Gobert has reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus - his team, the Jazz and the Ok City thunder are quarantined in their locker rooms after their game was not played - an absolutely crazy day all over the country

Exactly what someone predicted on the radio this afternoon (and they usually AREN'T very good at predicting anything!).
Someone in a league would get the virus and it would shut the whole league down. Probably the correct response, how can you have a team in quarantine and keep playing? Also the teams that played them recently (Celts) have to take precautions as well.

Don't see how the NCAA tourney will be played given the NBA won't be.

I think they'll try until someone involved gets sick- then, might can it as well.

Any thoughts about having the NCAA tournament at home sites of higher seed or to hyper-regionalize the brackets?
Seems silly to have every team travel at this point. And silly to play the Final Four in an 80,000 seat football stadium when it will be played in front of 100 people.
Specific schools will probably cancel on their own (hasn't Yale already?) so chances are we wont see a full 68 team field.

The ladies' tournament is already set up so the first round is at someone's home court.
I think that they're already looking at Ga Tech or the Hawks' arena vis-a-vis the domed stadium there. Perhaps some of the regionals are at too-big places too and they can make swaps?
Wonder if there will be more or less upsets...in the early round games you often had the neutral crowd get behind the underdog if the underdog stayed in the ballgame. On the other hand, you might get a team who jumps ahead by a bunch and, with the quiet surroundings, checks out mentally.

Also the teams that played them recently (Celts) have to take precautions as well. The radio said this morning that the Celtics have been asked to self quarantine. Also a few other teams, but being a local news broadcast they just listed the Celtics and Jazz. You have to be concerned about everybody's favorite member of this year's extended team. Tom Heinsohn is close enough to the players that I assume he would be included. Sad to say, but he counts as "elderly"

Heinsohn hasn't been on a broadcast in recent memory, unless he's going to games but not on the mike, I would guess he's not been exposed.
Last year, he missed a lot of time due to complications resulting from sleep apnea.
