Joe did well at both schools and the stats suggest he would be an asset at most mid major schools. There is a question mark in my mind about the intangibles. If a kid transfers, I think anyone can have a bad fit. If a kid transfers twice in two years, I start to question maybe it's not the fit - maybe it's him. As we talk about what the NCAA created, I'm curious if he'll have to sit a year with this transfer. Does HC=>UNCW count as the one "free" transfer meaning he'll have to sit a year as this is his second transfer? Or was 2020-21 a special COVID year so that the transfer waiver issued doesn't count as the "free" transfer? Doesn't really affect HC. I'm just curious how it will be implemented ...and it's within the same conference; not sure how that plays out.

Did the HC guard who transferred to Fairfield stay there or transfer again? I can’t recall his name.

Caleb Green played for Fairfield last year after sitting out the 2019-20 season. I haven't heard anything about him entering the portal after the season. In all fairness, I don't follow that stuff and would only learn of it on this board

Caleb is not one of three players with the last name of Green in the Portal.
There is no mention of him leaving or possibly leaving on the Fairfield Stags message board.
On a side note, Fairfield began the demolition of Alumni Hall at 10:00 AM yesterday.

I was under the impression we only know people are in the portal because 20 years olds are fascinated with social media

How many more years can Caleb play, one or two? Same w/Grandy.
I've lost track of this sort of thing w/the pandemic and the rule changes.

As of a few minutes ago, there are 1474 in the transfer portal according to their web site. It provides a great snap shot of where each player currently stands regarding their previous and future destinations. www.verbalcommits.com/transfers/2021

Senior Day in men’s hoops is about to lose so much of its meaning. You say that like it’s a bad thing! It is if you think of Senior Day as basically a recognition of student-athletes who have been part of the program for four years.

Since Caleb Green was discussed earlier, I thought I would share this information. Seems he has had a very successful classroom experience at Fairfield.

Happy for him. This was academic year #4 and he had to do a ton of work to be at the graduate level already.
He could be close to a PhD if he stays two more years!

Jack Hemphill of BU just popped up in the portal. I thought he was already in there. I didn't realize he had 22 offers out of hs.

I was under the impression we only know people are in the portal because 20 years olds are fascinated with social media This is true and apparently coaches have given their Portal login information to reporters, so the NCAA has planned to try and crack down on it: Of course the NCAA was attacked for this on Twitter because (1) it's the NCAA and (2) it's Twitter, but I understand why the Portal would be kept private for players who have entered their names but may not want the whole world (/their team's message board) know that they are exploring other options. Players would be able to enter their portal, if there is demand from teams they would see that in the portal and reach out, and the public doesn't need to know until the player wants that information out (unlike a Drew Lowder situation where he uses social media to try and hype up fake interest like pretending BYU was a viable option for him). However, I think they already let the toothpaste out of the tube on the transfer epidemic that will be hurting college basketball for years to come.
