Does a transfer count against the scholarship limit during the year he sits out?

Perhaps Sotos is a walk-on? Would Ohio State use two scholarship years for one year of play by a likely backup?

Towns, being from Columbus, OH, would have a greater chance of being a walk-on than Sotos, not that I think he is either.
Sotos is from Illinois.

I heard Holtmann told his assistants to go out and get him a backup PG, preferably from a below average team in the worst league in Division 1.

Bison, Do you think he will play much ? Question not directed to me, but I think the style at Bucknell held him back. So I think he will be a big contributor and will enjoy watching him play. But then again I could be wrong

Bison, Do you think he will play much ? Don't know if he'll start, but I'm sure he'll get a fair amount of minutes. By then OSU will have graduated their starting PG CJ Walker - and their PG of the future, DJ Carton, decided recently to transfer. That means that other than Sotos the only PG on the roster who will still be there in 2021-22 is CG Duane Washington Jr, who has played more at the two. And there is no incoming freshman who is a PG. Btw, Sotos had a really good game last year at OSU, which might be one reason that Chris Holtmann pursued him.

Is it the switch every screen defense ? If so, some pro teams do it. Few colleges. It's the switch every screen. So the other team simply has their center set a high screen for the PG. That automatically puts the Bucknell PG on the opposing center, who immediately posts up. And it automatically puts the Bucknell center on the other team's PG. I watched all season and didn't see one college run that defense. In the pros, a few teams may do it when they have a small athletic center in the game and a big PG. And when the other team has a center who wants to hang out at the arc. The teams Bucknell played didn't do that. They all had their center post up Sotos (or sometimes Toomer) every time. And their PG blew by Paul Newman (or sometimes Meeks) as if they weren't even there. Did Davis play this defense in previous years ?

Started to play it more the second half of 2018-19. Might have cost them the PL title game, since Langel took advantage of it to get Kimbal Mackenzie matched up with Ivanauskas frequently. And Sestina or Newman trying to stay in front of Jordan Burns. Neither match-up worked well, to say the least.

About 7th. Where they finish depends partly on the play of their two incoming freshmen, who on paper should be major contributors. If Davis radically changes the insane defense they played this year, that would move them up a couple of spots. This year's defense - where the PG automatically switched onto the other team's center and vice-versa - on every screen had the effect on leaving Sotos to guard the other team's top post player under the basket on as many as 80% of possessions. And it left Paul Newman etc guarding the other team's quickest guard out beyond the arc. These switches were automatic. No attempt to hedge, no attempt to go over the screen. No attempt to go under the screen. Etc. That is why Bucknell had the worst defense against two-point shots in the team's history. And it is also why Bucknell was among the worst teams in the NCAA in fouls committed per FG attempt. No excuse for it except insanity. When is the last time Bucknell fired a coach? 1972 - Don Smith. Since then, they have only had five coaches (Jim Valvano, Charlie Woollum, Pat Flannery, Dave Paulsen, and Nathan Davis).

Bryce Aiken from Harvard committed to Seton Hall today as a grad transfer - huge get for Willard. I know from someone close to the Harvard team that Aiken was a bit of a problem from a 'team first' perspective but I imagine Willard has dealt with big egos before.

Willard has had some players in the past that could make Aiken look almost humble by comparison. He did not succeed with all of then, but enough that the Hall benefitted (at least for a time).

Patrick Harding from Bryant to Columbia. We had some leave of interest in him when he was at Fairfield Prep. Excellent rebounder. Limited in some other areas. Played a prep year for Matt Fava at Suffield Academy as mentioned earlier. Going to be my age by the time he’s done at Columbia but that’s becoming the norm.

Were you still thinking of Quest Harris ?

Looks like he can turn his basketball talent into a year of grad school at MIchigan

Not sure how accurate or current this is but a Salukis fan posted an hour ago that we have interest in 6’0” sophomore guard Antwuan Butler from Austin Peay. Delaware also reportedly interested. 27 mpg, 6.4 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.2 apg. From Philly.
