I hope that TE Derek Mountain gets a tryout with an NFL team.

Interesting that Dennis did not make all-PL but is getting an NFL shot. Can’t teach size, I guess.

Is Jimmy Murray still with the Chiefs? Sadly, no....I forget when but he was released during the season I believe....one of my brothers out there got to meet him during his time there and kept tabs on him. I think he might have gone XFL...hopefully he'll get another NFL look.

I’m pretty sure Murray finished last season on the Jets practice squad and has not been released in the off-season

It's amazing how much detail they go into with Murray there - many plays with the Chiefs and even going back to plays at HC - is it true he was a walk-on for us ?

Only 6 drafted from fcs schools, an all-time low and none from the Ivy either - I thought Alex Penchin the punter from Bucknell and easily the best one in PL history had a chance and now would imagine someone will give him a shot to sign as a free agent

Rather than start a new thread for a small item, I thought it might be okay to make this post on this football draft thread. Today’s Courier Journal has an analysis of each NFL team’s draft picks. The Packers got a D+ over all and one reason cited was the selection of bc’s AJ Dillon, a “one-dimensional RB”. Of interest to us is that the article included a large (5&1/2 in by 7&:1/2 in) color photo of Dillon in action against Holy Cross with Derek Mountain, Tenio Ayeni, and I think Kevin Bucceroni (second numeral partially obscured) on the sideline as Dillon eludes an unidentifiable HC tackler.

It's amazing how much detail they go into with Murray there - many plays with the Chiefs and even going back to plays at HC - is it true he was a walk-on for us ? Murray was part of the recruit class during the first year of scholarships. If I recall correctly, Holy Cross had 5 OLs in that recruit class. I was told by a member of the coaching staff a year or two later that Murray was a walk-on, but I had the impression that he was a recruited walk-on (i.e., a recruited player that did not get a whole or partial athletic scholarship). I think it is possible -- even likely -- that he was given a scholarship (whole or partial) based on performance at some point during his time at Holy Cross.
