just is not the same without the Kentucky Derby being run here in Louisville. This has been a very strange spring as normally we'd be tracking the key preps like the Wood Memorial, the Toyota Blue Grass, The Santa Anita Derby, Louisiana Derby and others. The Arkansas Derby is being contested today, postponed from its proper place a few weeks ago--will be playing the P4 and P5 there today. I've been playing Gulfstream, Oaklawn, and, believe it or not, Fonner Park. Therein lies the odd story: Fonner Park is the lowest level of racing in the USA--we're talking $2,500 claiming horses, some 10, 11, 12 years old, but because so few tracks are operational its daily handle has gone from $300,000 to $2,800,000 as on some days of the week it's the only show in town. Churchill Downs will start racing in a couple of weeks, but with no fans in the stands as is currently the case at Oaklawn, Gulfstream, etc,
The Derby was postponed until June in 1945. This year it is targeted for September 5.

Churchill Downs staged a computer race featuring the 13 horses that have won the Triple Crown. Even those who are not big racing fans should be able to guess who won. The simulation was well done, in my opinion

Killed me w/o the Run for the Roses today. Always one of my favorite days of the year. I'm not a horse racing or sports betting guy whatsoever but I always make sure I'm in the vicinity of a TV for the three big races every year, even if no Triple Crown threat heading into the Belmont. This same Saturday 5 years ago I remember being referred to as "Sportsmaggedon". You had: Kentucky Derby Yankees-Red Sox at Fenway -- this is where I was that day NHL Playoffs which included Rangers-Caps that night. Don't remember if Bruins also played same night.
