This may have happened anyway but Covid definitely didn’t help.

I think the world will survive without a college hockey team in Alabama.

Easy for you to be flip about it I guess when you're not one of the affected kids.

LIU should offer all the players and coaches of Alabama Huntsville and then submit an application to be the 12th member of Atlantic Hockey

In 1987 Alabama Governor George Wallace declared Huntsville the "Hockey Capital of the South." The Chargers were two time NCAA D-2 national champs and play in a 6600 seat modern municipal arena.

Well, the folks in northern Alabama want their hockey - the program has been saved - here's the story:
The University of Alabama in Huntsville announced Friday afternoon that it would restore the canceled hockey program after supporters exceeded fundraising requirements spelled out by the school. The resurrection of the program – the second time in nine years it has been canceled and brought back – comes a week after school president Darren Dawson announced its termination. UAH said Friday that more than $750,000 had been raised through private donations.

Tough to recruit to a hockey program without a conference that has been dropped and brought back twice in nine years.

Actually easy to recruit when the closest D1 competition for players is 400 miles away.

Never let a Crisis go to waste.

BC has already snatched their best player and I bet other teams are going to do the same.

Shouldn't someone in the NCAA have the "pucks" to pull the plug on that no sit out provision since hockey was only cancelled for a week or so? It's an insult to the loyal fans who donated the $75OK.

Hell no...the school was cutting their scholarships so they should be able to go elsewhere

Not unless there's some evidence that someone involved wasn't acting in good faith (e.g., had BC knocking on their door a couple months ago, that sort of thing). Given it's late May, time was of the essence in any player securing a spot on another team for next season (if there is one).
