Difficult times but not exactly raising much money, under $100k so far. Football just $6,600 and Basketball is less than $3,000. Still 11 hours to go.

If you have not had a chance to do it already, I recommend that you watch Strength & Conditioning Director Jeff Oliver’s Personal Plea...so well said. He is a GREAT representative of Holy Cross.

I'm curious to hear opinions about what a good result with this fundraiser would look like, especially given the fact that many people are under financial stress.

Over $255k now and close to 1000 people have donated. I would say that is pretty good for the current economic environment. The CAF raised well over $2mm last year but that includes every team’s individual events plus the CAF golf outing at Baltusrol in N.J. unfortunately those events aren’t happening this summer.

Baltusrol was in late July of 2019 which I think means it was not part of last years CAF total as the accounting year runs on a July 1 - June 30 fiscal year.

That’s correct, I should have said since those events won’t exist in the next fiscal year, they were hoping for a big day today. Given the current economic circumstances, it looks like today should be considered a success.

Are the 255K and 1000 just one day totals? If so pulling in about 1/8 of last year's total in one day sounds pretty good

Final totals were 1,525 donors for a total of $360,000.

Wasn't there a similar effort just a couple of months ago? I know I made an extra contribution on some kind of special giving day

Clearly the focused "giving day" model is bearing results for Advancement, and being copied by the CAF folks.

The CAF was started by DR, and I believe the CAF giving day was started by NP, and Heather Palmer. In the past, it was in February, or thereabouts. It was never held in June, or even May, given that students-on-campus were always engaged in helping raise funds. And it was also easier to have 100 percent student-athlete participation when students were on campus. Even if they gave $5, he/she counted as a donor.
There were also big challenges in the past, e.g., reach 2,500 donors = $xx,xxx added to the pot.
I believe MB has a goal of raising $2 million total for the CAF this year.

True but directing your contribution to the Crusader Athletics Fund was an option. I split my donation between the HC Fund and CAF. Not sure how much the CAF raised back then.

Perhaps not would be helpful to know when these special "giving days" are scheduled. I gave most of this year's donation much earlier (1/3 to the CAF, 1/3 to football, 1/3 to basketball) so I don't believe it "counted" toward any of these special days.

Last week Bucknell also had a 24 hour period for athletic donations - they did very well ! (although I know HC also had an earlier general giving day where you could earmark $ for sports) their results: "Bucknell's day of giving to support athletic programs just finished. At the 2 PM deadline, there were 2651 donors who gave over $915,000 to various Bison teams in just over 24 hours. Given the country's current problems, this was a great showing - easily exceeding last year's $530k and 2150 donors."
