Watching a crane maneuvering in front of O'Kane now along with some other trucks. Anyone know what's going on? Roof repairs/replacement? Wouldn't think a crane would be right for that.

Looks like an A/C unit, presumably for the roof.
Yes. A/C unit.

When discussing what should our Class 50th Reunion gift to the College should be, I suggested a replacement bell dedicated to Fr, K.
I couldn’t convince enough Classmates but also didn’t get much (any) support from HC staff for the idea.
They probably figure he already has a field named for him.

Was HC against against the bell being replaced ?

Why not try to name the bell for Dr Fauci - since he sounded a call to protect ourselves in this time of Covid. (PS: Thanks for trying '70)

I wouldn't say they were against it, just that they had higher/different/more important priorities.
I am sure if any one individual or group gave them the funds and said "it's for that and that alone," they wouldn't turn it down.
As a former Class Chair and current Class Correspondent, I've always been a bit surprised at how little direct "control" these positions have on setting where the money goes and in the setting of Class annual goals. The ones that seem to have the most say are the people who are contributing 7+ figure donations but I'd bet you'd find out that TPTB semi-coerce even those folks as to where the donation is going to ultimately go.
I, for one, wanted something tangible. Look, for example, at the gates of Linden Lane. Gifts by past classes. Money for scholarships are indeed admirable and worthy. But, for me, a Class gift should be something that those classmates can see and touch (and hear, if it's a bell) when they are back on campus and stay on campus as a semi-perpetual reminder of the Class for future generations.
But, we're off topic now. Way off topic.

Fr. K taught at HC from '74 - '76 then returned permanently in 1980 so the class of '70 likely doesn't have the familiarity with and affinity for him that my era forward may have. The proposal may get more traction in later classes.

I cannot see the crane from the Hoval, but on the Linden Lane camera, it has just dropped something to a waiting panel truck. Has the large tent over the Hoval been discussed.? Amazing how few people are in sight of any of the cameras aside from site workers.

You can't see the crane now because of a combination of the HC logo and trees. It was there awhile ago - just barely seen. Definitely a building unit A/C and the metal vent work and other stuff went up earlier.
Correction: just checked and the crane is visible.

When I make my "whale" donation I will absolutely say what I want it spent on.

I keep hearing there is a big donation coming soon. Might it be yours? If so, don't be shy. Let Crossporters "in" on it now!

Pics from today (click on picture to enlarge): 3rd picture from the Hogan/Hoval webcam shows the crane diagonally slicing through the "C" in "Cross."
