Well, if he's on a HC football schollie and we play football... Exactly. Why would the NCAA let Texas nullify the $70,000 or so HC paid for this year's scholarship when Texas will only be paying for next season's scholarship? If the player decides to skip the Spring season and wait till the fall I assume HC is out of luck, however. Hope he does get to play for us this spring. It's my understanding he's a GRAD TRANSFER, meaning he will for sure be finishing his HC degree in the spring. And if that's the case, there's no reason he wouldn't be able to play. Of course there's the implicit possibility that if he were to play this spring and get hurt, that the UT scholarship offer (free grad school) would get pulled. So for his sake, it would be wise to sit out.

If he chooses not to play for that reason, would HC get his senior year tuition back?

If he chooses not to play for that reason, would HC get his senior tuition back? No. Only if he voluntarily gave it up and allowed another player to be put on scholarship, like a walk-on.

Interesting. So if he chooses not to play for HC, he can still collect his football scholarship?

Interesting. So if he chooses not to play for HC, he can still collect his football scholarship? From the dark recesses I seem to recall that every player gets an "ollie, ollie oxen free" this year due to Covid, ie: no student athlete will lose their scholarship if they opt out of playing.

Perhaps our next NFL alum Just be ready to have him referred to as ".....from Texas." Just like "Russell Wilson...... from Wisconsin."

It's almost like the player's most recent college is the one referenced, e.g. saying Gill Fenerty was from Holy Cross, not LSU.

I do believe Steven Hauschka, Seahawks' kicker in the Super Bowl, requested to be announced as "from Middlebury", instead of his grad alma mater NC State.
Immediately following intros, the Middlebury website crashed due to a surge in traffic. Because apparently enough people watching the Super Bowl were so intrigued that they decided to whip out their phones and browse out the MC website in the middle of their party.

Even if HC plays spring football it's hard to imagine Foley playing another down for HC. Vanderbilt, a great school, is probably offering him a lot of money to come get a graduate degree and wouldn't want him to risk injury. The idea of playing in the SEC must be a thrill for him.

Since it appears to be the unprecedented year wherein a schollie football player may opt out of football without sanction, things might work out quite well in this regard for Mr. Foley and Vanderbilt (whether or not HC plays this spring). On a similar note regarding this unprecedented year, more than one CAA team has learned that the talented graduate transfer they picked up for this year ...can play next year too.

If he goes to Vandy, that would be the 2nd recent grad transfer from HC to Vanderbilt- can you name the other ?

It might be a real plus if HC could be seen as a pathway to a graduate degree at Vanderbilt.

It might be a real plus if HC could be seen as a pathway to a graduate degree at Vanderbilt. If pre-reqs are being 300+ pounds or running a 4.5 40, that may rule a lot of undergrads out.
