Nebraska, UNC, and Indiana also have an outline of their respective states on the court.
What makes it unique at HC is that I can't think of another private non-state school that has it. It very well be the only one.

HC is also in Worcester, the heart of Massachusetts.

I tweeted to NP asking about the MA state silhouette at mid-court... saying we should aspire to be a national brand instead of embracing regional/strictly Massachusetts. His reply seemed to indicate that we do aspire to be a national brand, but want to let people know where HC is. Kind of sad that we have to do it, but it's definitely a necessary evil. We're headed in the right direction. So folks watching on TV know where the school is?

There is Holy Cross College at Notre Dame, Indiana, (which also has a St. Joseph chapel.)

Hopefully our guys are not as bored as these guys seem to be. Guess that is what you have to expect when they don't attend a school in exciting Worcester.

We should play them for the novelty of it. We should issue the invitation.

I never like the idea of playing a D-II school
Even so, I don't see a D-II school from Indiana trekking all the way to Worcester unless it was some sort of a guarantee game and HC isn't about to be paying teams to come to Hart

The Press coverage might make it worthwhile, a human interest story. With marketing effort, the story would be picked up around the Country.

Why? What's the human interest? St Francis (PA) and St Francis (NY) are in the same D1 conference and play 2x a year. Never remember any great interest there.
Why would D1 Holy Cross playing NAIA D2 Holy Cross be so interesting to anyone?

The levels are irrelevant to the general viewer. It's the name. Do you know what Marketing is? It's MAKING this appealing.

It may be appealing to you but I don't see a bunch of people jumping on your bandwagon and this is an audience of perhaps the most rabid Holy Cross fans.
Probably before you discovered Crossports, I long ago posted of a business trip I made with a co-worker/HC classmate who was on the '69 football season that was cancelled due to hepatitis. We went to Sacramento and made a side trip to Sacramento State. You probably recall that when our '69 season was cancelled, Sac State "adopted" Holy Cross and dedicated their season to the Crusaders and even wore our uniforms in their last game with our co-captains, Lamb and Moncevicz flown out to attend the game. There is/was an affinity between the two schools.
So, when we visited Sac State, we actually met with their Athletic Director and one one of the assistant football coaches - nothing planned - just spur of the moment and happenstance. We were not there in any official capacity and told them so upfront but they knew the story 35+ years after the fact. It was legendary. They said they would love to play Holy Cross but told us "it all comes down to money." They said they could not afford to fly to Holy Cross but if we wanted to go there . . . . I passed the info to Dick Regan as we had gone out to California for a couple of games a couple of seasons before. Dick said TG had no interest in flying to the west coast, especially with the expenses related to such a long and costly trip.
If we were to entertain playing a school, I would much prefer to play Sacramento State, a successful program on our own level (in football, anyway) than another school that happens to have the same name.
Just my opinion.

And so I ask again, what's the human interest angle you want to sell and get the press to cover? What is appealing about this matchup? What is there to market? Two Catholic schools with nothing in common except a name play?

Two teams with the same name on the front of their unis. You've already registered your disagreement. No need to prolong this.

Looking at the webcam today, contractor has started erecting steel framing for the practice court. Also, the NFH is down to the last section of steel, the framing for the south wall. I expect all the steel framing for the complex to be done by the first week of November. The roof over the NFH should be done by then as well.

Where is the "NFH"? I thought the plan was to upgrade the old fieldhouse The NFH is next to the Hart court. It is the largest, single part of Luth. The OFH, after it is renovated, will probably be referred to as the Student Recreation Center. ____________________________ In the Saasaki photo (it looks like the tour is comprised of Sasaki employees) the emergency exit from the upper level of the Hart at the southeast corner is at extreme frame right. The exit stairs on the south side of the Hart court were retained, those on the north side were demolished, and replaced by new exits.

NAD, not this "folk." The fieldhouse was, is and always will be "the fieldhouse" to me. Any part of the Luth is "Luth something or other" but not "the fieldhouse." To my understanding, the whole of Luth is close to 100% for the varsity athletes. On what basis would anyone decide the fieldhouse, which was always primarily for the non-varsity students (think intramural basketball among other things) and will remain for non-varsity students when completely renovated, should no longer be called that name? [This diatribe not directed at you NAD, or anyone else, just a gripe of people unilaterally changing building names - unlike "Brooks-Mulledy" ] Now I know this all sounds kind of reactionary and indeed I admit it is. As a 5 year old being shown "the fieldhouse" by Fr. Hart, that's it's name for me. Of course, I think he told my Dad it was "the new fieldhouse" which it was back in the early 50's. OK, carry on!
