I watched the last 3 minutes of PC and Creighton yesterday from Alumni Hall in Providence. Creighton did their very best to give the game away in the last 3 minutes but then the Friars gave it back at the buzzer. A missed free throw here and a fumbled in-bounds pass there are one thing but a lane violation on a missed freebie and an over the back 94 feet from the hoop on a missed free throw are just about inexecusable. The Friars capped off the miscues when their center for some reason, failed to guard his man who was late coming up court but somehow basically threw down the winning dunk, unguarded. Hopefully Coach Nelson can use the last 3 minutes of that affair to show his players what not to do under any circumstances but especially in the last 3 minutes of a close game.

Lafayette up 2 with 2 seconds left on the clock. FOH decides not to defend the guy taking the ball OOB, the length of the court, big mistake i thought. Long pass, desperation shot, Lehigh gets the W

Yesterday, with I believe 16 seconds left, PC was looking at a 6 point deficit if the Creighton player at the charity stripe makes both ends of a one and one. PC would also be taking the ball out 94 feet from their hoop. Two seconds later on the clock, after a miss on the one and one, an over the back foul on the rebound, two made free throws and a turnover against the press, PC had the ball under their own hoop down two with a chance to win the game.

I saw Zegarowski, the Creighton guard, play in high school. His freshman year in the state playoffs he just took over the game...A very impressive Freshman! I passed on his name to the staff, wish we could have gotten him! and he has a twin brother who plays at the D2 level... He made the pass for the game winning dunk....
