This blizzard today has only worsened since this morning - hope all posters are safe and sound - any reports from your local areas welcomed - here in SW Ct I’d say we have 10-12 inches out there and it’s still howling

Snowing very hard in central CT. They're now saying we'll get 12-18 inches. But my wife and I are both working remotely, our cars are in the garage, and we don't have to go anywhere.

In Northern NJ we have had snow coming down since about 10pm last night. It is supposed to continue until 10am tomorrow. We have had (conservatively) 16" at this point in Twp of Washington in Bergen County (with perhaps another 8 inches on the way before this stops). Please stay at home if you can and stay safe. This storm is brutal. Nice benefit of being a senior citizen is having caring neighbors who came by to clear our sidewalk. Our dog has a place to walk. I love our town. Then phoned every home to tell us not to shovel or blow snow into the road. Then the plows pushed the snow from the road into our sidewalk and driveway. I hope the two is smart enough not to hand out fine for "uncleared" sidewalks.

Same report from similar location. Went out with the blower at 3:00 and 7:00. Hoping there won’t be too much more in the morning. Probably 12 inches total by 8:00.

No severe conditions 20 miles west of HC....but a foot of snow for sure. Supposed to be another 4-6 inches and turn to rain (which could get ugly if you aren't shoveled out).

Those town ordinances requiring residents to shovel the sidewalks that border their property are much tougher on older folks.

For a good look at this blizzard live, go to the HC webcams. Linden Lane (really, O'Kane circle), is frozen over and can't see anything Jo, camera shaking in the wind and a couple of intrepid pedestrians walking down toward College Street and just avoiding a car coming into campus PPAC mostly white but the construction looks under control Hogan (really the hoval) is the best view of what's happening on campus weatherwise In case you don't have this on your favorite links: www.holycross.edu/webcams

Last night I was watching the National Accu Weather channel on DTV. They showed live cam shots from different cities getting hit with snow, The one from Worcester used the cam shot of the Hogan Courtyard. Stay safe. Hire a kid to shovel your walk, pay him well

About 12 miles SE of Worcester.... Storm winding down and should be out of here around noon. Very light flurries now, winds (out of the E/NE) ranging from 5 to 20 mph, 30 degrees, feels like 18 degrees. Have had about 12 inches of snow... Worcester reporting 13.8 inches. Wilmington, MA had the jackpot at 20 inches. Guess there wasn't that much snow left after NJ got walloped with 30 inches in some spots... ! PP (no not our poster), the Hog predicts 6 more weeks of winter! ! Now got to go out and snow blow this mess.... but it does look beautiful! Attached is a picture looking towards Holy Cross (blue circle).... Everybody stay safe and warm!!!! Attachment Deleted

52 degrees and rain here in the NW US! OK, I now officially am jealous of the NW US for, perhaps, the first time ever.

RGS:
Once it is safe to travel, you and family should travel to the Pacific Northwest. Incredible scenery that you cannot find on the east coast.
A couple of year’s ago, I was at Mt. St.Helens for an anniversary of the blast. I enjoyed talking with a Park ranger who was on the other side of the mountain when the eruption occurred. He was fortunate to have survived and is still alive to provide his story at the Johnston Ridge Observatory in Toutle, WA.
Views along the Oregon and Washington coast are unparalleled in the rest of the lower 48, the exception is the stretch of CA between San Simeon and Big Sur, which also is incredible.
An outstanding place to visit is Whidbey Island and Deception Pass in Puget Sound and The Strait of Juan de Fuca.. Chu Chu is probably very familiar with the Island.

I was just kidding about the NW. I got to see Oregon some years back when I was in charge of a conference in Portland. The advertising museum was great and I would see it again if I could. We got to visit canon beach and saw haystack rock and drove through the high desert. I brought back some original pewter Jefferson cups. Those cups handsome rocks from canon beach got me checked for some time at the airport. On their equipment, they were sure it was a weapon of some kind (in truth the cups, stacked together, did nook a bit "strange.') We probably won't go back because of my wife's allergies. The doctor told her that since they never get a hard freeze, mold is a real [problem for some. We met some nice folks and some beautiful land. We even got used to the clouds and got to experience a "sun break" where folks simply put everything down and walked outside. When we returned it was all STILL THERE. That probably would not work in the NY tristate area, I am afraid. I had been part of a plan to help at a center that worked with survivors of suicide and those at-risk. However, the woman who started and ran it died...so that plan faded away with her.

The next time you are in New England visit the Maine Coast.

Been there...done that. (Not in the winter, of course). We spent many summers on Star Island and would swing up along the coast after our week on the Island. Great lobster rolls and lobster bakes along with some truly beautiful scenery. My HC roommate was also from Kennebunkport, Maine. (He told folks he was from Kennebunk because it believed that, as a larger city, folks were more likely to know where he was from.

I live in New England, and enjoy it immensely. I have visited Maine and have stayed overnight in Booth Bay Harbor, Kennebunkport, (including seeing Walker Point), Portland, Freeport, Old Orchard Beach and Ogunquit. Great looking for antiques and old artifacts while driving along US Rt. 1.
The lobster dishes in Maine are incredible, including breakfast of Eggs Benedict made with lobster in Kennebunkport. Definitely better than the Spiny Lobsters from the Pacific.
But I still favor driving and visiting the PCH and the Oregon and Washington Coast over US Rt 1 in Maine for the variety of scenery, and topography.
Cannon Beach with the Art Galleries, Haystack Rock, Seaside, Astoria, Tillamook (great ice cream and cheese at the Tillamook Creamery) provide vistas that are unique in the lower 48.

All these reflections make me want to travel again. I love both coasts (used to hunt antiques and items for reenacting) and many places in between. This is indeed a great country.

Was planning on going to Bar Harbor, Acadia and Cadillac Mountain, but had to cut the trip at Booth Bay Harbor. One of these years hope to return to the Pine Tree State. I wanted to see the new $ 200 million dollar athletic center at Colby.

Acadia is truly a wonder-spectacular beauty and so much to do there and in Bar Harbor: carriage rides in the park, hiking, windjammer cruises, whale and seal watching, fine dining. We stayed at the great Bar Harbor Inn a dozen times on our annual visits to Maine.
