This has got to be the coldest night I have ever experienced here 12 miles SE of Worcester.. Currently it is about 20 degrees... wind gusts earlier on my wind gauge reached 50 mph and the electricity went out...just now gusts reached 53 mph. Gotta be just as bad at HC on the hill because I am almost as high up as they are!!! 2,130 homes are without power, a number of large trees down in the area. Indeed extra blankets for tonight are in order!!! Maybe an extra glass of wine and snuggling for sure!!! Think we are about to feel what Texas was like.... hopefully the power will be back on in the morning!!! Wind advisory is in effect until 10:00am on Tuesday!!! Stay well and be safe everyone!!!

The wind sounds like a locomotive outside.

Was driving from Worcester to home in Leominster north of Worcester on I-190 at about 9:00 last night. Wind was blowing hard the whole time so it was a two hands firmly on the wheel at all times kind of drive. Despite that, twice significant gusts of wind pushed me left at least a couple of feet because I partially crossed the lane marking. And I was driving a roughly 6000 pound minivan!
Never lost power at home overnight.

Windchill index for Worcester at 8AM was -13
Peak wind gust at Worcester Airport was 62 mph at 9:54 PM. Gust of 54 mph at Fitchburg at 7:54 AM today. Provincetown had a peak wind gust of 76 mph at 6:46 AM today.
Doesn't look to be any outside work at the PPAC today.

I learned this the hard way some years ago when we lost our power here in central CT during a winter storm.

Think about the guys from the power company that had to repair the damage that caused the outage--true heroes.

I have seen men working on power lines in conditions that are almost beyond belief. My thanks go out to every one of them. They are in my prayers e very time I see a storm approaching.
