1st game vs. Colgate postponed (cancelled) as well as the women's game this weekend vs. 'Gate - suppose it's the problem on our campus which must have many worried

From the announcement language, the issue is described as an inability to adhere to PL testing protocols. My best guess is that the postponement relates to HC not having negative test results in time before Colgate travels to Worcester and HC travels to Hamilton, and that one or more HC players are on a close contact list.

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Junior midfielder Dylan Scanley and sophomore midfielder Matt McGonigle both scored goals as the Holy Cross men's soccer team posted a 2-1 victory over Army West Point at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field. The Crusaders improve to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the Patriot League with the win, while the Black Knights fall to 2-1 on the season and 0-1 in the conference.
The Crusaders opened the scoring in the 18th minute, when McGonigle gained possession off a turnover in the Army end and fed Scanley at the top of the penalty box for a goal from 18 yards out. Holy Cross then increased its lead to 2-0 in the 67th minute, as senior midfielder Max Krause sent a cross into the box, which McGonigle collected in front of the goal and knocked home from six yards out.
Army was able to trim the margin to 2-1 in the 89th minute, when Eric Whiteman scored on a header. But the Black Knights would not threaten again, as the Crusaders held on for the victory.
Senior goalkeeper Nick Conklu picked up the win for Holy Cross, making two saves while allowing one goal. Jacob Suppiah recorded three saves for Army.
"We had a really good overall, collective team effort today," said head coach Marco Koolman. "When you are playing on the road, you need to capitalize when you get chances, and we were able to do that today. Our team was very combative throughout the game, and it was a well-deserved victory."
Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, March 27, when it plays host to Army at 2:00 p.m.

Great win by HC! Congrats to Coach Koolman and his squad. Also, I might add that Holy Cross probably has the nicest grass pitch in New England right now in Linda Johnson Stadium. Field turf has replaced many grass pitches across New England for cost-cutting and team sharing purposes, but real footballers prefer to play on grass. GoCrossGo!

You can say the same thing about our natural football surface - maybe the best you will see anywhere

As well as Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field. The field was in impeccable condition for the game last week against U Mass. The grounds crew at HC has done a remarkable job in getting the natural grass venues ready for competition this spring.

Not that we want it to ever happen again, but it couldn't have hurt that all the fields essentially got a year off.

Brown Stadium is natural grass for football. Rentschler Field for UConn is Kentucky Bluegrass. The “Rent” will host the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship for D1,2 and 3 in 2021 and 2022.
Earl Lorden Field at UMass is a grass diamond for baseball. Burnham Field at Dartmouth is a natural grass field for soccer. Morrone Stadium at UConn also is a natural grass surface for soccer.
These days, very few schools have multiple grass playing surfaces, since they do not have the room on campus for athletic venues reserved for a single sport. Most are using the same facility for multiple sports, i.e, football stadium being used for Lacrosse M/W and Soccer M/W. Or a combo Soccer/Lax venue.

How do they look? When I was a driving through the UConn Athletic section of the campus, last year, both facilities were still under construction. Once UConn 2000 was kicked in, they have done a very nice job upgrading their facilities.

It is too bad that a soccer program with such history and fan support has steadily dropped from a national powerhouse, to a regional power, and now a bottom feeder in the Big East. In my opinion, Providence has replaced UConn as the premier college program in New England. Coach Stewart, one of Coach Koolman's former players, has done a masterful job in building the PC program. For the record, PC's relatively new shared field is beautiful. Great use of space. friars.com/facilities/chapey-field-at-anderson-stadium/14
