I hope we keep a pipeline going with Watertown High, the top program in MA.

Watched a bit of the first and second halves. Almost all the play was in the HC end. Laplante, who is also an ice hockey goalie, had 16 saves on 17 shots. (AU had 30 shots total).
She is the #1 goalie in all of Division I in save percentage (.801 through November 3). 79 schools. Don't think any goalie can surpass her this year given her save percentage yesterday.
Also discovered that Stanford, Cal, Pacific, and U Cal Davis play field hockey in the America East conference.

Simple reason was they get the automatic qualifier by adding those teams which they wouldn't if they were not members.

The reason AE had to add the four California teams is that Fairfield switched from AE to the MAAC in 2015, which left AE with only five teams. The addition of the California teams is a classic marriage of convenience, since the East teams and the West teams have no regular season league games with each other. The only AE games where they meet are in the tournament, where the West has been dominant thus far. But calling all of them part of AE gets the league an auto bid.
Btw, the MAAC - which Fairfield joined - is really a mix of the MAAC and the NEC.

au won the championship today 1-0 over bu. after having 30 shots on goal vs. HC, they won despite only managing 4 shots today. the playing field is not level with many olympic sports in the league (au and bu have many more resources). au also is the no.1 seed in volleyball and their men's soccer won the regular season title yday.
bucknell women are going to the ncaa's as they won the soccer championship today beating bu in overtime.

The coaches' show had a great spot with field hockey Coach Jackson. Her enthusiasm is contagious and her energy level and faith in her athletes is clearly something that will build this program. The way they got their goalie - sending out a call for someone to take a shot at back-up goalie and then seeing someone respond who let the country in see percentage is amazing. She looks young enough ti be playing herself. She is a good role model for her athletes and a strong representative for HC sports - field hockey in particular.

. She is a god role model for her athletes. That is a pretty tough job.
