I may have mentioned this before but we have a family friend who is a very good field hockey player and student. She was all set to commit to an Ivy where she knew the coach and some of the players. HC's new coach got involved and made it a very tough decision. She ultimately picked the Ivy but the student and her family couldn't say enough good things about the HC coach and the direction of the program.

understand our goalie was recruited to play ice hockey (she's also on that roster). so she's using some of the same skills in field hockey. she saved the day on saturday as it looks like bucknell had the better of the play. would be nice to see this team qualify for the league playoffs, after so many tough seasons.

Q has played 3 PL teams this season and lost to each by a goal. Cuts like a knife. This is Q's first season competing in Big East field hockey.

Tonight's game suspended with 28:52 remaining and HC trailing #13 BU 2-1. Play will resume at a later date TBD. The game was completed yesterday. We lost 3-1. Not a good start to the Turnpike Trophy competition but losing by two goals to the 14th ranked team doesn't seem terrible.

field hockey looks to be our best shot at a playoff team this fall. pl season complete at 3-3 but likely 2 other 3-3 teams (lehigh and bucknell) will also be there. two of these teams will qualify based on tie-breaker. have to wait for this weekend's results. otherwise men's soccer is on the outside of the 6th and final spot. 3 tough matches remain with tonight's vs. BU very critical.

If Bucknell beats Colgate, Bucknell is definitely in. If Lafayette beats LU, then HC is also in, since they have wins over LC and Bucknell. If Bucknell were to lose to Colgate, then HC is in - along with the winner of LC vs LU. Where it gets complicated is if Bucknell and Lehigh win. HC would be tied with both those teams, and all three split with the others, meaning that tiebreaker doesn't work. The three have no common ooc opponents, so that can't be used to break the tie either. The next tiebreaker is goal, differential ( up to a max of 4 per game) among the three teams. All are tied in that category. The next category is goal differential in all league games. Bucknell easily tops that category and would be the 3 seed. If LU beats LC by 2 or more goals, they would also be in. If they beat LC by 1 goal, they would be tied in goal differential with HC and the tie would be broken by RPI. HC is slightly ahead of LU right now in that category, but a LU win over LC would boost their RPI, possibly ahead of HC. HC definitely needs wins over Lock Haven, who is pretty good, and Bryant, who is bad, to have a chance in RPI. so the bottom line is for HC to root for Colgate to upset Bucknell or for Lafayette to beat Lehigh, which I think is fairly likely.

Lafayette beat Lehigh tonight, which means HC makes the tournament. (See my post above.)

au clinging to a 1-0 lead late in the semifinal match. our all league goalie must be standing on her head as the eagles have outshot us 30-4.

Goalie Laplante was beyond outstanding, HC was a step behind all game & clearly decided to flood the defensive area and hope to get to a shootout, but considering the lost to AU 8-1 earlier in the season, I'd say a team clearly on the upswing. Hope they can keep this coach, her rep was only enhanced by this season's results. Give her another year or 2 & HC will contend for the title.

Don't know much about field hockey but it appears Coach came up with a game plan that put us in a position to win against a superior opponent. Looking forward to watching the program grow over the next few years. Congrats to the players on a really good season.
