I am not aware of other D.1 coaching changes among New England schools, but now see that NU fired Kelly Cole today after 7 seasons.

AM could extend her commute from Waltham to Boston, not much farther to further her career.

Through no fault of her own, AM didn't get to do anything in 2020-21 to make herself more marketable.

Difficult to get the feel on AM's standing out there after the endgame mess at HC.

Not really sure that makes a whole lot of difference to her.

Difficult to get the feel on AM's standing out there after the endgame mess at HC. She wore gloves - no fingerprints.

In general, I think this is the optimal way to conclude the tenure of a coach who is a fine person but has had consistently poor won-loss records. Some say you can't have a coach in a lame duck year but I think that is too expensive for mid majors.

Well this is an interesting dismissal. Her tenure at NU wasn't horrible. She did win 20 games in 2018-2019. However, most of her years were spent hovering around 500 or below. But if her contract is up I guess now is the time to see if the program can do better. As far as I'm concerned the ship has sailed on AM. Not really sure what the love affair with her is among the women's basketball community. She didn't get a sniff at Merrimack when that open last year. I doubt she'll be a viable candidate at NU. For Northeastern to make a change now, they are going out to find a young up & coming coach that can energize the program.

AM is not "a young up and coming coach" and that offsets her impressive career won loss record. On the other hand college athletics does value experience because often a young up and comer is paired with a veteran assistant coach and hopefully more mature individuals value contributing in a support role as the positive opportunity it is. My experience tells me past production is probably the best predictor of future production but image is important and like in the stock market, a premium is placed on future potential.

She sanctioned a hit job on BG. Tells you everything you need to know. She's never getting another D1 head job.

Speaking of BG, whatever happened to him ? Winner of over 600 games and still unemployed ? No high school openings ?

That was really unexpected, with Coach Mosely, particularly since she was a BU alum.

That Moseley move is very surprising - does Wisconsin realize the PL is a 'low' major conference and the jump to one of the best conferences is a very large one You can be assured Marisa is getting a very healthy raise - she will have her hands full in Madison

While she’s was a UConn, I remember watching the UConn Women playing about five years ago, and was hoping they either Coach Mosely or Coach Shea Ralph, would some how find their way to Worcester and the Hart Center as the Head Coach. Both really know women’s basketball as players and coaches, And both know how to recruit a high caliber of student athletes. Glad that she is getting a major opportunity.
